What I'd Like to See

....one of the big magazines (Eastmans, Trophy Hunter, Muley Crazy) do an edition with all public land, NON guided bucks. I would never be able to afford a guided hunt and I doubt most people can. It would be nice to see some of the big bucks that come from your average every day Joe off public land instead of the rich guys pimping guides, outfitters and private ranches.

I look forward to seeing you on the cover!!
It's a good thought call them and suggest it!!
I could holdup some Elk SCAT or a unused tag for the last page.
It's a GOOD Idea GPN just J/K with you a little.

I second and third that idea.. I don't even read most of the articles anymore for that exact reason. I'm more interested in unguided and especially public land hunts! We know that almost all those people had to put in their time and earn their trophy's!

Good idea. That is why I dont and wont buy those mags. I thumb through them at the store and look at some of the pics but wont pay a nickle to take it home and support the overpaid overglorified outfitters and guides.

i am in 100% agreeance with you. i would much, much rather read about a general, unguided, public land hunt on a muley from 150-170 inches than a private land guided hunt for a muley in the 200+inch range. ....but i got to say the pics are nice to look at! suggest it, it would be a great magazine... travis.

I guess you guys missed the last Mule deer issue of Trophy Hunter. DeerKing, BCBucks, myself and several other non-guided do-it-yourself hunters were featured.
I personally could care less if someone hired a guide or not,I just like looking at big muley bucks. As far as I can figure out, most guided hunts are still hard earned bucks. Monster Muleys don't grow on trees you know.

You're right Grandpa, that would be a cool idea. I have more respect for the public land hunts. My buddy and me killed a big buck in western Wyoming this year. We were unguided and on public land. Harvesting this buck is something that I am very proud of. We've passed alot of bucks and eaten many tags in our search for this buck. Look out for him in the next issue of Muley Crazy. He's gonna look great on my wall.

BCBOY..Of course there are a few unguided, public land hunts in every issue, but for the most part they are guided and/or private land.. I agree that most big bucks don't come easy, but you have to admit that your chances of bagging a monster are greatly increased when someone has done all of the homework for the hunter and/or they are hunting private land deer that are often times less spooky than public land deer.

BCB-- i with you, deer are magnificant creatures and i always love to look at them even if they are in a zoo. i actually didnt miss that trophy hunter issue and i really did like reading those articles, but i think you have to admit that several of these articles in these magazines mentioned are guided hunts and/or private land. i dont think there is anything wrong with that but i personally enjoy reading the ones that are the do it youself because i can relate to the pain and suffering and gratifacation that goes into those hunts. most hunters are unguided and relate more to that. its just how i relate to the articles. travis
