LAST EDITED ON Nov-08-04 AT 12:37PM (MST)[p]Can anyone help me out with the where abouts of wintering deer on the Utah Vernon unit (east side or west)? I'd like to spend some time out there this winter, and see what's out there and if it's coming back at all. If so, i may burn up my deer points there. It's already time to scout for next year! Thanks in advance.

I called the DWR and asked the same question. I was interested in taking some pictures on winter range. I know there are some great bucks there. I was told they migrate west to the House Range mountains. Good Luck.

Thanks Mark! I'd like to do the same, take some pics, and see what's out there. Maybe i'll even find a jack rabbit or two to slam with my new .17HMR. I LOVE winter recreation!!

Slamdunk, a second thought just came to me. I met a gentleman on monstermuleys last year who shed hunts the Vernon Unit. He lives in Elkridge, at the south end of Utah County. He would enter the unit through Little Sahara sand dunes and follow the road out to the House Range. Said he saw nice bucks and picked up some nice sheds. I try and see if I can contact him for more information.

Maybe if you look hard enough you can find some "late season trophy hunters". I saw some out there, I got a good look at the truck, but was unable to get a Lic. number. Bring your cell phone.

Wow! Thanks for that info, and i'm sure that will be plenty. I basically needed a starting place, and that is definately a great one! No need to bother this other guy, he might not be willing to give out something he's worked hard for anyway. I can respect that. Thanks again Mark, sounds like i may bump in to you out there this winter. I live west of Lehi, so it's basically right in my own backyard, i have just never spent any time out there. Thanks again! Doug

Yes shotgun, i agree that chance is definately there, and i WILL be prepared. You can bet you're a** i'll be "packin" more than a cell phone!! Slamdunk
