How many of you are heading to the late units Ill be going to the Swakane lets here were you all are going

I plan on hunting in the Swakane this year too. With GMU 247 now a permit hunt, I suspect that we will have plenty of company. I am sooo looking forward to this hunt. I have scouted and seen quit a few wall hangers. The rifle hunters did really well this year too. I will be back to scout some more this weekend, but I have seen enough to get excited! Did you hunt Swakane last year? If so, how did you do?
Later.

I hunted the eniat last year and got a real nice 25 inch 4x4. I am hoping to get a bigger one this year. This will be my first time in the Swakane I beleive it will be a zoo with the eniat a permit hunt now. I am going over this weekend to scout also, I dont even know where to start Ive got to find a good place for camp also. Howd you do last year.

One thing that sucks is the bucks are already rutting, there are two weeks earlier than the last two consecutive years, hopefully they will still be stupid

I hunted there on the last day of the season last year. I got one shot at a 30+ incher, definately a migrator. Of course I missed, I've got rotten luck. I hope the Rut will still be on enough to make them stupid. I'll find out this weekend when I scout. There aren't very many spots to camp in there either, so get there early. Do you have any pics of the 25" you shot last year?

We are off to the swakane unit this year. We kinda got spoiled hunting the entiat unit, some easy hunting right there now, but thats ok i have gottin allot of dear out of the swakane unit so it will still be fun. You have to actually hunt when your in the swakane unit and put on some miles. I not 2 sure how the burn is going affect are hunt this year but i think they are going to open up one of my honey holes so lets just hope.

If you go to the pictures section and go into the 2002 thumbs up photo contest my 02 pictures are the 5th down James Late archery buck, I dont have any of last years on the computer

I'll be there with everyone else. I don't see the Swakane as being over crowded as Entiat was last year. There are slightly less deer, fewer roads, steeper country, and just generally harder to hunt. I hope I am right anyways! There will be a ton of road hunters but unlike the Entiat I think you can get away from them. Some of those holes are deep and nasty and I don't think to many people want to go down into them. The brush is taller than most people in a lot of places. I bet a lot of hunters see deer down in a whole from the roads and will be to lazy to go after them. I still wish I had the tag across the road. Make sure to post any deer you take. I am looking forward to seeing them. Hopefully I will post some from our camp.

Does anyone know if there is as big a migration through the swakane as there is in the Eniat?

I am heading to Swakane on Friday.... I am a little discouraged from what I have read in the posts. Does anyone want to offer up something to be optimistic about? Any recent updates?

With the weather against us, I went to swakane on monday, set up camp, and hunted the top 3rd of the hills for 3 days.I was planning a week hunt, but cut it short. There was a few animals, but nothing worth spending any more time there.I'm moving back up valley with no snow to push the migration in there.Looking at the brush, there are(were) some local bucks...lots of rubs...GR
