Great pictures but to some they might think you are pushing the animals in bad winter conditions. It's a hot topic around the West right now. We should all think about the pictures we post and what others might think about them, IMO.

No offense intended, BTW...

Great pics as always LF. those are some real toads. Thanks for posting

'my answer'...'toughshed'...none taken. i have no problem any more with what others may 'think'... i know why i am out there, and when to be there, and when not to be there...my reply to any whom may not agree, can be summed up by listening to the song that 'hit' number 1 in R&B in 1972 performed by a philadelphia group named 'harold melvin and the blue notes'...you find that song, you'll have 'my answer'...

great pics again littlefoot, i really appreciate the pics. u live in a great place to be able to see animals like that. and thanks for sharing again

Thanks LF. For a guy who loves to watch and even get to know the elk around your place you would never do them harm. You constantly bring us great pictures of elk. During this time of year it helps me understand more of what they are going through.

LF......Completely enjoy all of your pics!!!!!! You are one of the good guys! Keep sending in these pics!! I for one will keep enoying them!!!!!

Thanks for the scavenger hunt Littlfoot. That was fun!! For those of you worried. Those elk were just glad to see their bearded friend rather than a pack of wolves. Stop being critics and enjoy some beautiful pictures. I sure didn't see them running and of course they'll walk off if they are unsure. Thanks again Little Foot.

Great pictures!! I wish that I could say keep them coming, but I can't.

I may be wrong on this so I will approach this gently. I was taught while growing up that if I get close enough to an animal on its winter range that it has to get up or walk because of me being there that I was harassing them. I know, I know, they are fantastic pictures!! I love seeing them just like the rest of you do.

So please tell me what you all think. Am I wrong or is it okay to get "kind of close" to the guys this time of year? If I am wrong then I will learn from it and enjoy these pictures even more.

What a Fricken joke once again!!!!!!!!!!! Tough acts tough and 2point acts as the local DWR! Holy hell you guys live in a world of Touch and Go! Hey 2point and Tough,, When you drive down the freeway and there are deer feeding in the field 50 yards off the road then just know you could have just killed all them deer by driving by

this is for '2pointer'..i promise you....this will be the last time i have to 'explain' my pictures....first off, i use a 400mm lens on my camera...second, the weather here has been bad for a while, and i was feeding these bulls. when they saw me coming, they headed for the 'feed bucket'...they were not running or even walking away from me..as a matter of fact, they got to the 'feed bucket' first...see the last 2 pictures??? they were there waiting for me.. thirdly. '2pointer', this is the second time you have accused me of harassing these bulls. when you stated before, " i can tell by looking at the pics that you were close enough to make them run", which was totally false, and, i explained it... your reply was "fantastic"...great manners there...finally, i will say to you, '2pointer', i spend a minimum of 5 days a week (usually 7) with these 'fellows' and their 'friends'. i 'hunt' their sheds till it gets to hot and dry to be there..the rest of the year, i just 'hang' with them..if you think for one minute i would be out there 'pushing' or harassing them, again, you are 'way off base'...you sound like a fella whom spends all day behind a desk, or in a class room, then can't wait to get home and tell folks how they are 'doing it all wrong'...there are many more on here that spend their time making a living behind a desk and do not have the opportunities to 'get out' as i do...that's why i 'do what i do'...tell ya what, '2pointer'...next time you see a post from me....don't even 'click' on it, cuz i guarantee ya, it will have pics of elk in it. whew...

littlefoot,

Dude I am not trying to start a fight here. Like I said in my post, if I am wrong then i will just enjoy the pictures even more. I simply asked a question because I do not know the answer. I find it very humerous that you get all upset just because I asked a question.

You are right, I do not spend as much time in the outdoors as I would like to. I am to busy working two full time jobs.(one of which is as a teacher in a "class room"... very good). I am very jealous of many people who visit this sight. I gain a lot of useful information here. I very rarely make posts, I just read what others have to say most of the time.

I still would like to here what others have to say. Am I wrong? Like I said before, I am aware that everything I was taught as a child is not correct. That is why I am asking the question? I will not spend to much time responding to the comment about driving past deer and elk, that is a totally different situation.

Littlefoot, please do not think for one second that I am out to get you or something. I was taught something when I was young and am questioning it, that is all.

WHEW!!!

2pointer,
The thread that you are suppose to be on is the one guy who spooks the deer to get the brown gold with his son. Little foot is doing no wrong he is not right next to these elk he is feeding them and he has multiple pics of the same elk all year long.Yes we have had a bad winter as well in Washington but these elk are doing fine. I enjoy old Gentry and if i ever get a tag in this area I would love to get a hold of the guy and have him guide me. We need more guys like this he is taking this on by himself he is not asking for any money he is going out almost daily to feed these guys oh yea and he is sneaking in a few pics. 2pointer you must be a UTARD because you are way off base here!!!! Gentry keep them coming and if you ever need any help give me a call I would love to hang out with you for a day, you are a lucky man to be able to go and see your good old buds on a daily basis. Thanks JG

So my question still stands. Why am I "off base" for asking a question from a group of people who can give me a good answer? I would love to throw out some insults, but I won't. I do not understand why I am being insulted because I asked a question.

2pointer,

I don't think you are being insulted very much here. Toughen up! You are trying to steal a base, and you have been picked off.

Here is why you are "off base".

1). Littlefoot knows the elk and their habits in the areas where he looks at them or takes pictures, ect more then myself or most people would ever imagine knowing. I have learned this from his posts.

2). I don't know littlefoot's resume, but from his past posts he has been doing this for years and years. The elk seemed to be doing fine where he is at. If he was stessing them I am sure he would back off. Check the achieves and look at all of his posts they will do the talking. Examples feeding during the winter, sheds after shed after shed, hunting cows and spikes, and most of all the recent recipe for oven baked elk (with bacon). This guy knows the elk in his area more then anyone.

3). If littlefoot was harming the elk he would back off. My point is to give people with his history the benefit before you attack them.

4). Littlefoot's posts on this site are top quality (positive not negitive). My impression of littlefoot is that he loves elk, and has been watching them for more years then we know. He probably has more knowledge about elk and their habits then you and I will ever know.

5). My suggestion is to pick you battles, and littlefoot's history alone is a bigger too big of a battle for you. Do your research.

Go out and look at and study the animals. Find time spend time and muliple years with them. Don't attack those who do it.
