Here's Another 30-Incher Passed (video)

I can understand you letting this one go. But I think your mental for letting the big one go. I guess you cant kill something bigger then 200 if your killing 200 but sheesh, if you were my kid and I was pushing brush for you and you let that buck go, I would kick you right in the nutz too...LOL anyway, sounds like you had a great year. Thanks for posting up the vids.

Uhhhh... OKkkkkk... Ummmmmm... Alrightyyyy then! I have no idea how you could possibly let that guy walk! :) But, that is why I enjoy this site... there is always a chance of learning something valuable. And when I understand why you let him walk... I will have learned A LOT (as I'm sure it has something to do w/ having learned enough to have a couple like him on the wall already!!!!!)! :)

Theodore Roosevelt once said, "The nation behaves well if it treats the natural resources as assets which it must turn over to the next generation, INCREASED and NOT IMPAIRED in value."

Ya, my dad was a bit upset that I didn't kill one of these deer. There was one other buck that I didn't get video of that was also a big boy. Dad jumped him at 40 yards and got a good look. The buck ran down the hill by me, but I couldn't get a good look at what all he had to offer (other than he had a 30-inch frame), so I let him go.
Later, dad said the buck was definitely over 30, great mass, big eyeguards, and a webbed tripod on the one side. Heck, if I had been able to see all that, I would have shot. But, you know how it goes. It's hard to pull the trigger until you know exactly what all the buck has to offer.
When all was said and done, I didn't take the biggest buck I saw, but the one I took is still good and I'm happy. Saw plenty of good deer, caught a few of tape, and have one for the wall. Will post a photo.

Nice footage. You can tell when a man has experience with these big boys. My camera would never had made it up until AFTER the shot. On top of that, it would still be "shakey" from my adrenaline rush!

Thanks for posting the vids. It makes a man's day at work go a lot nicer.

It must be nice to have the patience to pass up great bucks like these!! I guess the saying is right. You can't shoot a 35 in non-typ if you shoot a 30in 5 x6. Thank for sharing the photos.

Good job passing on the dink with the crab claw fronts. I would have done the same thing. I do think that you are crazy though for passing on the larger buck. I can understand passing on the first day though. We always think that there is something bigger just over the next hill or in the next basin. Good luck in your future hunting pursuits.
