I hunted around the Kremmling area for 4 days and took this 4 pt buck on a the last day of my hunt. Of course i saw 2 bucks bigger than this one (1 gave us the slip and the other I passed on- yes I am still kicking myself!). The area I planned on hunting was overrun with hunters and on opening day had lots of deer but as the days went on deer and hunters disappeared and I went off to a SWA across the street that there were no roads and found this buck. After my shot deer came out from al over the place. It was crazy. I'll get a better story later.

Great looking buck, congrats! Way to hang in there until the last day and find a place away from the crowds.

Nice buck! I guess the DOW knew what they were doing going to the draw a few years back. It has been a great year here in Colorado.

Congratulations on a fine buck!
That area does get hammered by hunters and you did 99% better than most would have.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Best,
Jerry

Nice Buck Jeff. Major congrats! Sounds like you earned this one. Its great to see that you and the wife are both tagging bucks. I had the privelage of guiding my brother Scotts 12 year old son to a nice little 300 bull yesterday. He made a great shot at 382 yards. The bull was running to timber but when I cow called he stopped briefly just to look over his shoulder then jacob leveled him with a perfect neck shot the bull never twitched. Not to shabby for a first timer. There were 22 bulls in the group. I also picked up a nice 6 point shed a few yards from where the bull dropped. Was a good day. I will send pics. Hope to see you turkey day.

Congrats Jeff - that is an absolutely great looking buck. Way to stick with it even though there was a lot of pressure. Beautiful backdrop for the photo too. Congrats again-

LAST EDITED ON Nov-16-04 AT 00:08AM (MST)[p]Quick story (sorry it took so long)
A friend and I drove a short BLM road back and walked almost a mile across small sage flats then up hills to check the backside of them (they were usually brushy with a few aspens). The deer were holding tight to these brushy east/north facing hills so I had my friend swing low while I stayed high to see what would come out or come to me. The last hill we pushed the plan worked perfectly.. I stood in a small opening in the aspens looking out to see what was in front of me, nothing, I look to the right, nothing, I look to the left and here come some does walking fast up the hill in my direction. At first I thought they would pass right in front of me but then they started to head toward a small saddle up the hill . At the back of the group I saw antlers so i raised by binoculars for a quick look and saw it wasnt a small buck so I dropped them and raised the rifle for a offhand shot. The buck turned broadside to look back at my friend (they never knew I was there) and I put the crosshairs behind his shoulder and squeezed. HE droppped where he stood (shot high and spined him). It was about a 100 yard shot. I am very happy to go home with a nice 4 point. He wasnt the biggest I saw but there is always next year! I hunted Middle park area of Colorado on the unit 18,28,37,371 tag. I hunted hard for 3 1/2 days and saw about 35 bucks. The hunting pressure in areas was intense and it payed off to find small areas to hike to that nobody had been to. Thanks for all the compliments!
Jeff BTW...Yes I had a clear and safe shooting lane when I shot, my buddy was to the right of the buck and further down the hill.

Great story and a Great Buck! Way to hang tough...
35 Bucks, are you kidding, damn near bird hunting with all that action. Way to go is in the backhills.
