I was flipping channels and caught this halfway through the interview... W O W what an amazing buck!

It was a 10x10 with 35" outside spread. It had the cape on it still so it seemed really fresh. I think he won a contest or something with it (as I said I didnt catch the entire thing). He also said he had 4 months to hunt... he win the conservation tag or something?

Amazing deer, love to here more info if someone caught the entire interview (like area he got it in if he mentioned it)

I saw that to, that thing was a monster, but like you I just caught the End, where he suggested to keep putting in for the draw so I don't know, but it was a huge buck.

Ya wouldn't think Fox13 would give any air time to hunting unless it was negative. I think it was a bow harvest up above Fruit Hieghts on the Extended bow unit.

The guy drew the sportsman permit. The guy doing the interview keep saying how do you feel wining this prize (the Deer). Even I could get a big one with that tag. I'm sure its my turn to get the tag!

the interviewer didnt have a clue! it was the sportsmans tag and it was a pig. I hope someone can get some pictures.

It wasn't the interviewer who didn't have a clue. He said he did draw the Sportsmans Tag, but the guy seemed like a real moron. The interviewer just kept asking question after question... the guy was like, "uh... it's a mule deer, uh... it's the biggest one we've ever gotten". Obvious that tag isn't given out based on intelligence... nice buck though, I'll give him that.

I know the whole story on this one.

It was the Sportsmans tag. It was shot down in the Henrys with a rifle. The hunters name is James Shodel (sp?). He and his dad own a molding shop down in the south end of the valley here in Utah.

James is a super nice guy, and he got completely tongue tied during that interview. I feel super bad for him. They have been working that buck down there since the archery season. I think they passed on 8 or 10 B&C bucks before finally getting it right on him last Sat.

I don't know the green score, but it is something in the 220" range. The main frame is 27" or so. One of the mass measurements is over 6".

It's a great buck for a true Utah sportsman who hit a bit of luck drawing, then a little more than a bit of stage fright behind the camera :)

Cheers,
Pete

Thanks for filling in the blanks. I was bummed I didnt see the entire interview.

The interviewer was Jose Miguel, and I can't stand him. I watched long enough to see that the deer was a real hawg.

Why are you all feeling sorry for him . Was he embarrassed about a interview please let me know why andymansavage.

I also saw this entire interview. You guys are right. Jose didn't have a clue. For all Jose knows, the hunter shot a real live jackalope. He never did address where the buck was taken. I think Jose was trying to cover up his "pretty boy" with lack of hunting knowledge by hammering the hunter with question after question which all seemed to require the same answer. By the end of the interview, I didn't even know what Jose was getting at.

So thanks for filling in the blanks that Jose obviously missed. I'm glad to see the other hunters in the area were perplexed by the interview. They should of just let the hunter talk instead of always cutting him off.

He is sure a pretty boy . I wish i would of seen it dang . What kind of questions was he asking ? He thought it was a jackalope ?

Is Jose that ugly dude that looks like an albino chinaman that combs his hair forward. He looks like he was dropped on his head from a 3-story building to get those slant eyes.

We need to have some pics of this buck posted...
Does anybody know where we can get a look at it?
