Lions and Coyotes

Now that deer season is winding down in the west, I thought I might remind and request that all of us that love to hunt for big Mulies do our part in extingushing the lives of as many coyotes and Lions(legally) that we can. I have killed several coyotes this year so far. If you do not know how to call, it is easily learned by buying one of the videos. It is relatively cheap to buy a hand call, put on your camo and call for a few hours. I have added shooting sticks to my bag of tricks since I do not like to miss and educate the dogs. I really do believe that coyotes have a huge impact on fawns of all species and if you make an effort to dust as many song dogs as possible it will help. I always carry my lion tag, but have had no luck to date. If you would like me to share any of my tricks, or would like to add some of your hunting tricks feel free...THX

I'll be back in the Rubys soon. While guiding deer hunters this year we saw and heard lots of coyotes. I only killed one during goat season after we killed a goat. They do take a tremdous toll on our deer herds. Where are you out of? Maybe we can get together and thin a few out.

I live in Reno. We have a few 50 to 60 mile circuits we hit with the quads and call about every 5 miles or so. I kill coyotes mostly in antelope country, but this winter I will be concentrating on deer wintering area's. I was at the Battle Mountain Chukar tournament and we saw lots of coyote sign and a few coyotes. I usually don't make it past Winnemucca unless I take a few days off. I am going to post a picture in the near future of a 28 1/2 inch 5X3 mulie my girlfriend took in area 17 this year once all the end of season photo's slow down. She shot it at 219 yards in it's bed after we made a 3/4 mile stalk on it. She is a keeper!!!

I was hunting 10 Early archery and saw quite a few for how high I was hunting. My buddy had a 065 rifle tag and saw at least 10 coyotes over the three days I hunted with him, didn't shoot them because we were deer hunting. I'll be back down there the day after Thanksgiving to try and thin some out. My roomate was back in Elko this weekend and him and another one of my buddies got 5 of them up north of Wells and out by Charleston. Give 'em Hell!
