Hey Delvin thanks for posting them.

We got to the area a day before the hunt started to scout the area. We have never hunted the area before but a friend of mine has been hunting the area for the last 4 to 5 years and gets one every year. We see two decent bucks on Friday morning and decide to leave the area alone not to scare any more deer. So we left and went to the area my friend was going to camp. What timing he showed up no more than 10 mins after we got there. We helped them set up camp and had a few beers and went out to scout some more. Seen a few more deer but didnt want to push them so we just left the area alone. My son and I went back to the hotel we were staying at. Saturday morning we got up and met our friend at his camp and went out to the field. We were driving to an area my friend said he had seen some good sized deer. The sun was coming up already and we had enough light to see. As we were driving I stopped to glass a small hill and sure enough seen a good buck off in the distance. So my son and I thought we should go and take a look at him. As we were walking up the hill we could see he was with about 5 or 6 other bucks. They went to the other side of the hill they were on so as we got to the top we were ready for to shoot, but when we got to the top we could see the deer. The area was open no trees and only brush about knee deep in areas. So we knew the deer had to be somewhere in the area. So we kept walking down the back side of the hill the deer were on and there they were about 200 yards. I told my son to shoot at the one standing broad side. Then I hear "dad i cant see over the brush (he was using a bi pod) so then I told him I would shot first. Took aim and pulled the triger to hear the solid hit of the bullet. The other deer just stood there. So I told him to shoot. His first and second shot missed with the third one being true. The deer stood around for 4 shots and really never ran off as we walked up to the area the other deer just kinda walked away. This is my sons first deer. He was so happy with shooting a decent buck for his first time out. Thanks for reading.

nmhunter,

Nice pictures and Devlin was not the one who posted them for you, it was DakotaKid. Devlin was only congratulating you.
Probably just a typo on your part, still congrats to your son & you.

Congrats on the "double"...I'm sure the enjoyment was two-fold as you were able to experience this with your son...I brought my nephew out to CO last year for his 1st mulie hunt and he harvested a nice 3X4...I'll never be able to put a price on the size of that boy's smile...sharing these types of experiences with a kid can sometimes be the biggest reward...those two deer sitting on the wall next to each other will pay dividends for years to come...great job

Congrats to the both of you. You will remember that day for the rest of your lives and bring it up at every campfire.
