Montana hunting update.

Hey all you guys in Montana or have been in Montana. My Dad and I are heading out early friday morning from WA and will be there until after Turkey Day. We are hunting out of Cascade and Lewistown as per usual. I was just curious on a hunting update, what kind of deer you guys are seeing above normal or below, stuff like that. I have a friend who went & they had 3 bucks by 9:00 opening day. 2 4 points & a 3x4 mulies. Heard the blue tounge hit the whiteys hard.

I haven't hunted up by Lew-town this year but, around South Central and South Eastern MT I've seen fairly normal numbers, nothing out of the ordinary.

Best of luck on your hunt! No matter where you are in Montana, if you can get off the road and away from ATVs you might have some good luck.

Please provide a trip report.

you won't have a problem filling tags, especially since it is 95% likely you'll be hunting private ground in the vicinity of those two towns.

A friend of mine went over to that area this last weekend and got a 25" wide 5x5 (w/ browtines)and i guess they filled 5/5 tags, depends on what ranch youre on though i guess.

Just got back on Saturday from hunting around Lewistonw and grassrange.. I got a 22 inch 3X4 and a friend got a 21 inch 3X4. I missed a nice 4X4 that was about 26-27 inches wide. The deer numbers are down quite a bit in the area we were hunting. They got hit pertty hard last winter. The hunting should be good. The day we left the weather was moving in. We were hunting in t shirts where we were there.
