My season is done and i'm hoping next year is better.
to start out i scouted my favorite spot all summer seeing several 160" bucks but I am to greedy and wonted more.
bowseason came and i passed on 5x5's 4x4's 4x3's looking for mr big.
at the end of the season i still hadn't seen a buck i was willing to tag out on but on the last day i shot one arrow at a buck in some thick stuff and nailed a small tree.
first of oct. i hunted thunder basin national grasslands only seeing small bucks i held out.
the 15th muddy opened and enstead i went to hog park and shot my elk the next weekend i hit muddy for deer, still only seeing buck in the 150 to 160 range i held out.
we tried midwest. still no mr big.
november came and i headed for the black hills.
I planned on hunting every weekend. but by the 14th my wife was having a cow. she didn't wont me to go thanksgiving weekend witch is the best deer hunting weekend of the year.
the weekend of the 14th she put her foot down and told me to kill or forever hold my peace. stll i looked for mr big passing on a 4x3 muley and a small 4x4 whitey.
sunday rolled around and i looked like it was going to be tag soup but at the end of the day i ran over to a chunk of state ground and tagged a 2x2 at 4:00
i hunted every hour of every day i could hunt and never layed a eye on anything worth putting on the wall.
26 days for deer and 8 for elk.
oh well there is always next year the freezer is full

what did you think of the black hills?? was just curious on how the whitetails and muleys were doing, haven't been there is several years.

black hills are great i grew up there but i was to early the white tails wern't rutten yet saw tons of does and small bucks in the last hour of light we filled three tags sorefeets,my brother and mine. plenty of deer just no big bucks. we tried every thing grunts ratteling and even my predator call.
moskee was so dry you couldn't stalk anything.
bearlodge was better but no bucks chasing does and the big ones were holed up.
i hunted one 4 day weekend and one three day weekend.
saw one small 4x4 whitetail one 3x4 muley and half a million spikes. one was the smallist spike i have ever seen.
the hunting was great the killing kind of sucked i wasn't going to shoot one at all tell my wife started gripping about the price of the tag and that i didn't wont a deer just time away from home.
the truth is i have all the deer that will fit on my walls so i'd have nowhere to put him if i would have found him.
Moseley turns 19 the 10th of dec and will move out when he wonts that will give me space if he takes his two 6x6 bulls.
