I'm tellin' ya, this keeps up, you can kiss the EA goodbye on the Front. Yesterday 2 guys got stopped at Jordanelle, east side of Highway 40. Both had bows and both had bloody broadheads. One did not even have a license. Both lost their bows and were arrested.

The week before that it was a Non-Res, who with the help of his resident brother, shot a huge buck near Kamas.....with a 7MM....and tagged it with an antelope tag. He also had an archery tag and had been hunting this area, with the excuse he was on the 'Front'.

Today it was not one, not two, but four guys loping along during a cow rifle hunt without hunter orange.

Mark my words, the Front is going away, don't be surprised if it gets closed early because of all the problems. These guys are doing nothing to help us, please report violations you see! We have got to put some peer pressure if not official pressure on the yahoos or we will lose the Extended Archery opportunities!

That's too bad... Every year it's the same thing, deadbeats ruining the hunt for everyone else...only the ridiculous stories change. I forsee the DWR making people pay, quite literally, if they want to hunt the extended archery and the front in the future. With the increase in the price of other tags, I could easily see them justifying an increase in that particular archery tag for a number of reasons, especially with this kind of behavior.

It wouldn't bother me at all if it went to a draw tag only/unit for the Extended dates with bi-weekly mandatory check ins on illegal activities seen or reported. And those llllloooonnnnggggg shot pro's gotta go to!! Hearing them say they winged it but it didn't go down and ran like it would be okay really has me very upset...... 50 plus yard shots at the range are a lot different on the mountain........ Give 'em hell pred......

I HOPE YOU NAIL THEIR LOWLIFE ASSES AND HARD!!!

THE ETHICS OF THESE LOWLIFE IDIOTS IS BEYOND A JOKE!!!

AND TO THINK SOME OF THESE 'JOKERS' ARE PASSING ETHICS ONTO YOUNGER GENERATIONS!!!

I STILL THINK THERE OUGHT TO BE A LAW AGAINST STUPID PEOPLE BREEDING,THERE'D SURE BE A HELL OF ALOT LESS IDIOTS IN THIS CRAZY LITTLE WORLD!!!

YA,IF I COULD PACK MY 7 MAG DURING THE ARCHERY HUNT I MIGHT OF BAGGED THAT 30"ER YEARS AGO THAT I'VE SPENT MY ENTIRE LIFE TRYING TO GET,NO,I WON'T LOWER MYSELF TO THOSE OTHER LOWLIFE BASTARDS WAY OF THINKING,I'LL JUST KEEP TRYING,IT WILL EITHER SOME DAY HAPPEN OR NOT HAPPEN,YA SEE,DOING IT LEAGAL I'LL ALWAYS HAVE SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TOO:ALMOST FOR SURELY ANOTHER YEAR WITHOUT A 30"ER,THATS O.K.!!!

YA,I'M A LITTLE AGGITATED,EVERY YEAR I SEE & HEAR OF DIFFERENT LOWLIFE STUNTS,JUST WHEN YOU THINK YOU'VE SEEN IT ALL,NO, YOU'RE JUST SEEING THE BEGINNING,IT'S TIME THE DWR PUTS SUCH A FINE INTO EFFECT SOME OF THESE IDIOTS MIGHT START THINKING TWICE!!!

WELL,I BETTER QUIT,I'M SURE I'VE OFFENDED SOMEBODY,SOMEWHERE,I'M SURE SOMEBODY WILL TURN ME INTO BRIAN,THATS O.K.,IT WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST TIME,IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH,GO AHEAD AND TURN MY THREAD IN AND I'LL TAKE THE CONSEQUENCES!!!

THE ONLY bobcat WONDERING WHY THERES ALWAYS A FEW IDIOTS THAT RUIN IT FOR EVERYBODYELSE???,YOU'D THINK SOME OF THEM WOULD EVENTUALLY LEARN???THEN I THINK ABOUT WHY STUPID PEOPLE SHOULDN'T,WELL NEVER MIND!!!

Get used to stupid people. There are more everyday. It will get worse. Note that more successful educated people are having no or few kids. Welfare encourages more kids by paying more, so welfare people are having more kids.

HEY Fudd

I AIN'T GETTING USED TO 'STUPID PEOPLE'!!!

I AGREE,THERES GETTING MORE BY THE MINUTE!!!

THE ONLY bobcat NOT WILLING TO GET USED TO A BUNCH OF LAWBREAKING 'STUPID' PEOPLE!!!

People like the ones mentioned above are the ones that ruin it for the rest of us that follow the rules.

We need to life guards at the gene pool!

Seriously

We need a "members only" gene pool! Pass the test BEFORE you even think about gettin' in!

That is some bad news. Why even bother tagging a deer with an antelope tag?

Regarding those who hunt without orange during a cow hunt. Is there a simple way for them to know if a rifle hunt is going on, or do they have to get an anterless addendum and read up on all the boudaries and dates? I hold one of those cow tags & I've hunted one other rifle cow hunt during the EA hunt. I've seen a number of archers who were unaware - in fact one was a police officer come to think of it. They are shocked when they see a guy in orange with a rifle cruising by. A lot of caution is needed in these areas regardless because there are other recreationist out there who are not required to wear orange. I don't have the heart to report the archers unless there is a simple way for them to know there is a rifle hunt going on.

I've thought that the later hunt on the Wasatch should be a draw for a number of years now. Let everyone have a whack at it until mid to late October and then make it a draw for the guys that are serious about it-kind of like Idahos area 39.

If it keeps going that way that it is everyone is going to lose the opportunity to hunt the Wasatch from Parleys south
I've said this before, but here it is again-take the dedicated hunters out of the Wasatch hunt as well. Things started to get bad on the Wasatch about the time the dedicated hunters started using it as a backup plan.

I've been in the same boat and have used it as a backup when I was enrolled in the dedicated program, so I'd be losing the opportunity as well. But, I think we've got some serious problems and something needs to happen before it's gone for good.

Smelly, they were rifle hunters...they probably just figured that if they wear camo, no one's going to notice that they aren't carrying a bow.

Prism, these violations are occurring north of Parley's as much as they are south. I understand that DWR is writing a book a day near the Holladay gun range for trespassing. It's got to stop somehow, or it will just be another lost opportunity we allowed to be ruined by the idjits.

Was sitting in the Porcupine Rest. last week, having a few beers and watched some idiot, in all camo jump out of a truck with his bow and start stalking some deer right below the Holiday gun club. He gets about 30yrds off the road and lets an arrow fly. Then pulls another arrow out and continues his stalk.....

I remember a few years back, when some guys got arrested for shooting a buck with their bows right off the road in the same place. People are truly amazing....

Actually It's not illegal to shoot a deer from the Road with you bow because you are not discharging a firearm. Honestly, I am totally against it. After a talk with a Utah Fish and Game officer up on monroe last year She finally told me exactly what I thought, That it's Not "Illegal" to shoot from the Highway but you would be better off to step off the pavement.

Its amazing how many idiots are out there. I work at the mouth of big Cottonwood and have spotting scopes set up. I see a violation every single day during this hunt. I can't beleive how stupid people are. Last week,I spoke with the land owner that the Holladay Gun Club sits on. He hunts the front himself and is very serious about catching and prosecuting those guys that find it necesarry to trespass on his land. Somebody posted about the guy that shot the deer a couple of years ago off Wasatch Blvd. It was my office that called that in. Another thing that I find amazing are the 150 yard robinhoods of the wasatch. Get an idea of hunting and ethics. I was at 45 yards last week on a great buck with no shot when an arrow buzzed over the top of me. When the buck took off I turned around to see a guy behind me. I was between him and the buck. Knowing that i was 45 yards from the buck according to my leica range finder, I turned around and range found this idiot. My range finder read 91 yards. That makes the yardage 136. I was pissed about a blown opportunity, but to he** with the opp, I wanted to kill that a**h*** for shooting that distance. To some hunting is only about the kill. If thats you get a life and hang up hunting, you are ruining it for the rest of us.

Predator,

I don't doubt that there are a lot of violations from the point of the mountain clear to Sardine Canyon, but it seems that the majority of (visible) problems are occuring in the "archery only" area.

I think it's time that the DWR takes a real hard look at this and makes some decisions now instead of putting a halt to the whole thing within 5 years.

I think the hunt is a great opportunity and would be even if the hunt ended in Oct. Limiting the number of hunters (in November) to those who are really serious about it would really cut down on all of the year after year violations.

Make a November to December hunt an unlimited draw for guys, but that's their only deer hunt in Utah, but don't have it affect the limited entry draws. And again, get rid of all the dedicated hunters on the unit!

Wow. All I read all year long is how dedicated a bow hunter is and rifle guys are slobs. Beer, ATV's, roadhunting, you all remember. Us rifle guys are drunken killin' machines with no ETHICS.

Looks like there are in fact some slobs with bows. I mentioned months ago this thread would suface its ugly head about this time of year. Sure enough, here it is.

I wish the DWR would nail the guys hunting the south side of Traverse. Maybe they are too busy writing tickets in Holladay to get that far south. Who knows.

The bowhunters have a good thing in the EA hunt, but give them an inch and they will go a mile. I wish they would shut the EA fiasco down, but that is my opinion. I am a rifle guy. Remember? ;-)

KTC , you and I both know it must be houndoggers doing it. Or them rifle hunters trying to make archery hunters look bad .;)
In all seriousness we all know hunters with bad judgement and horrible ethics , people need to speak up . My own personel experience is that there is a higher percentage of archery hunters that take the time and make the right judgement calls in the field than rifle hunters .

There are good archery hunters as well as good rifle hunters. The problem lies in not turning these idiots in. Nearly every location on the EA hunt is with in cell phone range. Report these idiots! How many of you guy's bitching about this hunt have turned in somebody? It is easy to come on here and tell stories, it is a lot better to report these poachers, and unethical jerks. Something must be done. The DWR can't be everywhere. We must as sportsman help police our own. I am an avid bowhunter and am disgusted by the actions of a few. There are some great hunters up on the wasatch who do things right. This hunt happens to be very visible to the public. We don't have these problems with ethics on the rifle or muzzleloader hunt not because they dont exist but because nobody is around to complain. These problems will not go away until there is a very heavy handed DWR with help from sportsmen. Sorry for venting but these idiots drive me crazy! Not all of us archers are like them. Have a great day!

You boys should have seen the zoo in Sp. Fork today. 6 bulls just happened to step off forest service ground and on to private property and all the local bowhunters chased them clear to leland then back to Sp. Fork. A neighbor of mine called and told me he had six large bulls across from his place on Arrowhead road by cicle v meat, and someone just arrowed and killed a big six point. the elk were then chased passed Leland mill across the river through a new development and within a block of Sp. Fork High school. from there they turned and headed for the freeway all the while with mighty bowhunters chasing them in their trucks. I watched a guy take a shot from a privacy fence in the new development but he was gone before I could get my video camera going. I did get video of 4 bulls with tongues hanging out triing to breathe not knowing which way to turn it was a pitiful site. This hunt was supposed to help the land owners by keeping the elk off private ground but those elk could barely clear a fence and were doing more damage then if they would have been left alone. Not to mention the fact that all regard for private property was being lost. If this is how it is then I would rather the fish and game be called in to shoot or chase the animals back to the forest. I am sure the DWR is going to get an earful from the locals tomorrow.

Yes it is the hound guys. No, actually I was ribbing SS after our long, heated, rifle vs. bow debate. The debate we left long ago. ;-)

SS I wish I could turn these guys in. Just waiting for the opportunity to provide facts, not rumors. That is the hard part. They poach in my territory, as the stories are told, and it pisses me off. Again, give an inch and people take a mile. Hell, people are always looking for loopholes. Right?

Does anyone know if you can use a atv in corner canyon ? Please let me know it will be appreciated.

later , hunter cameron

KTC,

I knew where you were headed and did not take the bait this time! Hope you had a good holiday! Time now to start holding our breath for our next big drawing isn't it? Have a great day and lets catch some of these abusers. I just heard they caught the kid that poached that big buck out in Tooele. Some punk kid who was claiming he killed it on the Front. What a joke! Keep smiling!
