Just moved to Heber Utah. I have seen some really nice Bucks. Is most of the land private or are there some good hunting grounds 1 hour or less? Any input would be nice!

LAST EDITED ON Dec-07-04 AT 01:24PM (MST)[p]if you are looking at the bucks east of HWY 40, then your looking at PHU (private hunting units) units. All along center creek and up from main street are all of these units. A great place to look at deer out there is called interlocken (sp).. thats the gated community between midway and heber. along river road.

as for hunting, you have all of the area in daniels canyon and around strawberry. Also, east of heber, beyond timber lakes, is a good area. from there you could scout all the way to current creek. you also have west of heber, towards cascade springs (american fork canyon).. all of these areas hold deer. Hope this helps

also, remember that the region boundry for central and north eastern is HWY 40...so know where you want to hunt prior to putting in for the draw.

Browtine,

Do you live up in Heber or have you hunted this area?

Thanks for the info.

browtine gave you some good info, one other thought would be to scout around as far from any roads as you can.
That area is highly populated during the general seasons.

Browtine, ah hell im still around working to much, and not playing enough. My hunts went as usual didn't draw anywhere in the western U.S so i decided to head up to Saskatchawan and hunt some geese/ducks and whitetail.
Had a blast limiting out on geese and ducks everyday for 6 days, it kinda ruined me though I cant get excited to hunt around here now. didn't kill a whitetail my guide kept telling me not to shot the deer we were seeing "130-140 class dinks" he kept saying.
Other than that been yote hunting and working. What about you? How was your hunting? I see your hanging around Doyle you got any cool pics/stories?

NBJB I dont know on the muzzleloader, but that area up there just gets pounded with people, mountains that look like pumpkin patches. Thats why I suggest you find some good hunting ground up high away from private land. their are big deer up that way.

The hunt was actually really good. I didnt kill one however, I saw better bucks this year then years past. I actually saw two bucks together that were dandies. I didnt have an oportunity at those..but did pass a few good bucks waiting for one in particular..I hear that buck is dead now..but havent seen any pictures. shoot me an email at [email protected] and I will tell ya about the two bucks I saw snd show you some video.
