It is a Blacktail but, I figured some of you might enjoy these, especially the WA. guys, or anyone who has hunted Blacktail around here. I guess this deer WAS living in Monroe and was not very friendly.

I was told the F&G had to shoot this buck after it had tried to charge some of the people living in the area. That's too bad cause I think it was just because he was all rutted up, lookin' for anyone/thing to fight. Dang nice buck though!

OH my gawd, that is an awesome blacktail! Wow. I grea up and lived in that area for 25 years and probably never saw one that big, but many just a notch under him. Wow. That is really too bad he got killed by WDFW. Someone local should call the Mill Creek office and find out if he was scored.

Wow.

Nice buck and cool pictures. Your little one sure had fun on the porch too! That second pic looks freaky!

Boy, that is a dandy, I mean DANDY blacktail. He would score good. That pic was taken 4 days before the late season, Hed be on my wall if i lived there and still had a tag. I think id even pass on a late season muley tag to shoot that bugger.

kirkl....late season for blacktail isn't open for the area.

Look at the body on this beast!!

That picture of the buck looking through the window has got to be one of the coolest photo's Ive ever seen! Looks like the Cujo version of a blacktail. Way cool!

Muleyslayer, dang that would suck, I guess pics are next best thing. What unit is monroe in. looks like 448 which your correct isnt open.

It is too bad these areas aren't open for late. Monroe, Sultan, Index believe it or not hold some pretty decent bucks in em'. A saw a picture of a 7x7 that scored in the 150's taken' out of Gold Bar! Perfectly symmetrical too.

Ya I dont know what there reasoning is behind not making those units open for late season. 418 was a good one to.

There are some truly giant buck from Monroe up river into Gold Bar, the Beckler and either side of the highway all the way up to Stevens Pass. I held a buck taken out of the Beckler that is huge, netted out 140 1/8, taken back in 85.

Those bucks living near the towns of Monroe, Duvall, Carnation and Fall City can be bowhunted pretty easily but there aren't many that do.

I also LOVE that pic of him in the window!

I saw that buck last year. He was living on 200 acres next to the river. A guy from my church here in Yakima's parents. He took me over to the riverfront access from this farm to fish for chum. He told me this deer had been there for a good three years. He was telling me about it on the way over because he knows how much I like bucks. I thought, yeah right??? More talk. We get up to go fish and he is standing next to the truck. Holy Cow! His parents don't hunt, and he is with suspended licinse because he shot a two point with cheaters, and they did't make three point. When he went through the check station, he got nailed. He is going to be pissed, because he just got his license back. I know the guy is an honest man, because he could have killed this deer at any time.

Thats a hawg.

I may be mistaken but isn't there a pending new state record from Gold Bar? The buck was taken a couple of years ago. It was in Fishing & Hunting news last fall. The guy shot it out of a treestand.

He looked dang near identical. I think his tine length might have been a little longer, but live bucks always look a little bigger than on film.

Thats wild you've seen him Doug!

Your Cali bucks, though not technically declared, are NOT like the washington or NW oregon bucks. They are longer horned and generally score better (even though the world record is from WA). Its only a matter of time before Cali breaks the record with one of them big willow horned open country blackies.

These deer here live in blackberry thickets that you will NOT crawl through. Devils club, vine maple and doug fir regen so thick that you cant see 1 yard. Very very few bucks in this country get length like this one! Wow.

I highly doubt there was a new world record shot, but anythings possible.

I read that story too. The guy claimed there's a bigger buck where he shot his in the story. BUT WOW! I wonder why they didn't try and at least tranquilize him? That buck is a blacktail of many, many lifetimes.

What, and miss the chance of hanging the antlers in THEIR office. I guarantee someone is drueling over them right now either in their living room, or at the office.

Ya I seen that Gold Bar buck article also. It was in Washington Oregon fish and Game. It was taken during the late season archery if I remember right. I believe it scores in the 170's. A buddys 12 year old kid killed a 144 this year up here in Skagit county what a whopper.
