I would have to imagine there is alot of guys from British Columbia that look at this site and never post. Well I am hoping that someone can shed light on this rumor I heard. I have heard from 3 people now that a buck was taken in the Francois Lake region that is possibly the new B.C. record. If memory serves me corrrect I think the current record is 203. I also heard that a 195 Typical was taken somewhere around 100 Mile House. If these bucks are out there hopefully someone has some pics and can post them.

Hey Muleychaser,

I havent heard of a big typical taken in francois lake area. But there is rumors of a 207" net typical taken in the Okanagan by a 13 year old kid. BCBoy could probably tell you more about it than I could. There was a 195" typical that came from somewhere around Fraser Lake country. Either than that theres quite a few 180" typicals and 200"+ non-typicals ive heard of that are coming out of all places. I havent heard of anything big from the kootenays yet.

If you want to check out posts on these deer go to huntshoot.com its the western canada hunting site and has a lot of BC guys on it.

Muleychaser,
Hoping to see some pics of the unofficial green 209 gross, 207 net typical ASAP. It was taken by a buddy's kid in the Okanagan. The kid has taken some great bucks in the last few years. They been pickin' up the sheds off this buck the last few years and last year it scored in the 190's. The current provincial record is 204 7/8.
There have been some absolute Toads killed this year in BC. The biggest NT I've heard about scores 255. Haven't seen pics of it yet either but heard it from a very reliable source. Like Matt said, lots of 180-190 class Typicals and 200+ class Nontypicals taken this year.

Isnt it weird not hearing about anything coming out of the Kootenays?? Every year they seem to produce some nice non typicals but i havent heard a thing yet this year???

There are actually TWO bucks that will likely break the BC record for Typical Mule deer ....

The one from Francios Lake region .... (that buck was already posted here by BCboy ...) and the second which is larger, as BCboy described above.

BC had some tremendous bucks taken this year and its only going to get better !!!!!!!

Unlike folks in the states ..... most monster bucks in BC go un-noticed or they just are not posted on sites like this.

There is so many people running around in the Kootenays now its hard to keep a good spot quite. But there is alot of narly mule deer here, just gotta get off the road, lots of road hunters in the Kootenays. The big guys are very smart in these areas because of all the traffic but if you put the time in they are there.

I'm sure many big 'uns were taken in the Koots this year. Like BCBucks stated, many just don't reach the internet, they are hung out back in the woodshed and forgot about. LOL! But I'm sure we'll see an article on Okanagan Typical as both the kid and his dad have been in Big Buck Magazine in the past.

Well I live in the Kootenays and one of my friends uncles got a big 180 typical muley on the last day.
Lots of big elk taken though, but other than that I haven't heard much
