What are they going to do on private land for deer?

This is sad!

Are we going to have a landowner deer system?

"My Flowers, in Mayhill were eaten by these deer,,,, give me unit-wide tags for unit 34!

I don't know how it is in New Mexico but in Nevada if you buy a few acres out in "open" range it is your responsibility to keep the cows out of your yard or your hay etc. If a ranchers cow eats your lawn or hay then it is your fault if you do not have adequate fencing to keep them out. I agree with this. But if a deer or elk eats a ranchers flowers or hay then it is the wildlife's fault and the rancher gets landowner tags. This is a bunch of manuer. I believe that if you decide to run a ranch where there is a chance that the wildlife is gonna get on your property then it is YOUR responsibility to fence them out. These landowners have got a racket going on here. They get allotted tags and sell them to high paying rich hunters.
Bullsh!t. I say that if a deer is eating your flowers and you don't like it then move to the city. fatrooster.

I do however agree with the rancher on the mustang issue. They are not native here and don't belong here. They have no monetary value and compete with native wildlife. fatrooster.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-11-04 AT 09:50AM (MST)[p]NO, there will not be a deer landowner permit system here in NM. If you will read the commission minutes and look at the draft of the 2005 regs you will note the state has changed the deer hunting greatly, e.g. point restrictions and a draw in 2005. Private landowners must provide a written document to the hunter going on private land to allow him to buy a private land deer license. The technical details of how this will happen is still in the works.

I would rather have a tooth pulled then read those minutes!

THanks though!

No need to get bitter!
