I hunted Eastern Montana for my 2nd muley hunt and had a great time out there. I was hunting a public land area that looked promising last fall but according to one game dept officer that I spoke with the area was hit pretty hard with tons of snow last winter and they lost alot of deer. So we didn't see the numbers or bigger bucks that we were hoping for. Either that or we were just not looking in the right places for them!! Had alot of fun glassing and hiking around some beautiful country though and the company was great as well. I managed to knock down a decent buck that was larger than my first buck last year so I was very happy with that. Can't wait to go back again...

I didn't get an opportunity to hunt Minnesota much during the rifle season due to being in Montana so I decided to hunt the late muzzleloader season. Bought an Austin & Halleck smokepole this fall and on my 3rd day took this buck at about 25 yards. It was a nice end to the season so it's onto some late season pheasant hunting...

ironranger,
It's good to see another MN person on this site. I've been around here for a while, but don't post often. I really doubt that most of the people on here have a clue about your name, but myself growing up on the North Shore and having a sister in Hibbing caught on to your name right away. This is a great site and is very informative with a lot of great pictures. I've since migrated to western MN but would love to get back east. Nice deer by the way...

Just wondering how you were lucky enough to draw Montana two years in a row. If you have a secret, that's great. But if you hunt public land on a DIY hunt, you have to be lucky to draw. Let us know.

Congrats on both deer....coupla' nice bucks.

ICMDEER....I got drawn in 02' and 03', some years you just get lucky.:)

Thanx for the responses!! After posting this message, I couldn't see it out there so I posted again today (Duplicate). Zamguy, I grew up in Babbitt and went to school in Duluth as well. I'm down SW of Metro now (Cologne) but still love the north country.

ICMdeer, I think that muleyslyr and I both have a lucky horseshoe placed firmly up our _______!!! If I get drawn again this year I'll pull it out and send it to you... :))
