I have 8 different pictures of the camp williams buck. (They are awsome quality) I have not attached them because I am not sure it is worth it. What is everyones opinon on posting them? FYI... he is an 9 x 11 around 36" and a VERY reliable source has told me the govoners tag was filled yesterday with a 6 point buck, the 9 x 11 is across redwood road back up on camp williams.

Let's seem 'em! What can it hurt, the entire state is already parked down there looking for him anyway. Maybe by getting his pic out we can keep someone from popping him, knowing that everyone knows what this deer looks like might make it a little hard to show off.

I agree it is not like everybody & their dogs don't know about him & I agree that the more people that see him the harder it is for somone to poach him.

I was going to go out and see if I could spot him within the next few days. If you were to post the pictures, I probably wouldn't. Just a thought, but i'm probably not the only one who wouldn't be out their harassing him.

I thought that same thing. I never felt the urge to go see the AF Canyon Buck because I saw pictures of him here. That along with knowing that the place was already a zoo was plenty to keep me from heading north! Post em' up. The more people out there eye balling the buck the less chance we will have at someone sneaking in and shooting him (on the extended archery of course ;-)) while nobody is around.

Post them please.

Like NvrEnuf, I won't have to go contribute to the crowd by seeing him here and I am a mile away.

I can't find him any way. ;-)

KTC,

If you are not going to post them send me a PM and with the pics. I think you should post.

Yup, thanks for posting em! He's in full rut!

He doesn't seem to be as strong as I imagined.

Just imagine how many of those we'd have in Utah if the DWR would manage our deer herd the way they do for elk. Five-Six year age average for bucks would mean a lot of huge deer and it would be worth it to only draw a tag every 7-8 years.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-14-04 AT 06:37PM (MST)[p]Dang nice buck, but not sure it's $80,000.00 nice. If I had that kind of money, I'd make 6 or 7 (or more) trips to Mexico or Canada. Oh well, guess I'll never have to worry about that.....: )

I'm not much for scoring deer, especially NT's but is that thing really 230"???

Rut

Nice buck, but how can it score 230 with those G3s?? The left side G3 is merely chili buck. But, BANG!

Hunter Cameron,
Thanks for posting the pics. You stole GP's thunder! Sounded like he was hoping that everyone would beg for him to post his pics for a while. Good job, and nice pics. Wish there were more bucks like that out there. If he doesn't get poached, like all the other good bucks in the state, it will be fun to see what he looks like next year.

WOW!! WOW!! WOW!! What an awesome buck. I new Camp Williams held some awesome bucks, but he is phenomenal. On 12/2/04, I was at Camp Williams for some firearm training and drove past a 180 class 4x4, 40 yards of the road. He had about 5 does and a small 2x2 with him. I was pissed I didn't have a camera with me. He let me watch him for a minute or two, and slowly fed over a little him.

He was the best buck I have seen in person at Camp Williams, but over the years I have seen many bucks in the 160-170 range while there for misc. training.

Nice Buck,

Looks a like if you give this guy a couple more years he may grow some more mass, but BANG!

That sucks when you live a mile away and have to "find" him on the computer as opposed to seeing him in the flesh.

I am with Chef. Very nice buck, but doesn't meet the hoopla and was expecting something with a little....more mass maybe?

Very good photos.

Looks like you and I have the same source for pictures hunter Cameron. Same pictures I have, along with a few more. Word is they are going after him again today, no one has seen him for awhile...........so eat your heart out Doyle Moss this is most likely the closest you will ever get to this buck! I'm betting on the buck living another year!

GP,
What happened to your "reliable source" that said they shot a different buck with the gov's tag?

Rut

How wide do you guys think he is ? I was thinking 34 +

later , hunter cameron

I'd obviously be in 7th heaven if I shot him, but since I"m dreaming, I'd like to see him put a little mass on, he's one of the lightest horned "monsters" I've seen a long time!

I'm not sure if anybody can tell by the picures or if maybe they have seen this buck close up in person, but how old do you think this buck is? Could he have a few more years of growth left in him?

I sat right next to the guy who bought this tag. That deer is not worth 80 g's. Does anyone know what the antelope hunter got. If I remember that went for 18,000.

NBJB

You guys have it all wrong. The Gov. tag is not just about the antlers. That $80k is for the whole hunting experience. Waiting patitently all december in your jaccuzi, knowing that any minute your guide could give you "the call". Rushing to the charter jet to make it to utah before the sun comes up. Sitting on the plane sipping wine and watching the streaming video that your guide shot hours earlier. Forwarding the video to your taxidermist so he can get to work. Riding to the hunt area listening to a play-by-play of the buck's movement on the radio. And finally making that 600 yd shot with your $10k custom rifle. C'mon and cut the guy some slack, don't we all go through this same experience every year????

the guy that bought the tag isn't hunting the deer, he gave it to a friend, this little group are so wealthy they haven't found time enough to come and whack that 220 class HAWG.

I believe it will grows more cuz i have been watching this buck all winter last year and it grew to about 30 inches more in just one year. That is pretty good, I hope it will develops into more mass for next year so can't wait to see what's it like for 2005!

Well said Andyman! lol That ain't huntin!
If I had that tag, I'd have two guys with me: my dad and my brother. That's it.

So, what's the deal? Is this deer still alive? Did the guy with the Gov tag take something else? I still see about 8 trucks out there every night looking for him, but it seems like things are slowing down out there.

Rut

That buck is nice but after seeing alot of different pics on here he sure aint the monster I thought he was gonna be after hearing about how big of a monster he was. maybe its just the pics. maybe seeing him in person would change my mine. Like someone else said he doesnt have mass and if he didnt have all the trash he wouldnt look as good, hes got small forks. I wouldnt shoot him if i spent 75,000 on a govenors tag. I would if I drew a special permit tag.

the buck is pretty week I don't think he will even go two twenty. For the ten grand finders fee i could dig up one like that.

So, are the rumors of this buck being killed true, or his the "General" still on the hoof. I live in Harvest Hills and I have not seen him yet, been up there lookin for him, saw him last year, but not this year. What's the word?

Judging by the traffic jam at Camp Williams today, I would say he is alive and well!

Rut

Where'd the pics go??! I need to show a guy at work this buck - I guess he drives past CW everyday wondering what in the world all these guys are looking at(no, he's not a hunter)and called me tonight saying he stopped and asked what the hell everyone was looking at! LOL

He had to call and tell me I better go see this buck! I told him I alrady had and that I'd show him pictures when we're at work next week.... wherein lies my dilema! Where'd the pics go?

Well, it looks like the Camp Williams boys have had it with the tourists I saw a security truck with the lights flashing talking to a couple of guys in the favorite pull off yesterday. Looks like you will have to do all your viewing from the pavement now.
