which elk call?

Well scope...i'll start this off.

I'm from the school of cant call too much. But i dont use just one call, i've got 6 different calls now, i think. and i use them alternatively, just so as it sounds like more than 3 elk. I use them all day, too.

I've had them so long i dont know what they are called. I know i have a lead cow, a lost calf and the rest are different sounding cow calls. Its a ton of fun learning how to use all the different calls too! Do not settle for ONE call, unless you really enjoy mediocre success.

I'm no expert... but "one" call would never work for me. I use MossBacks full throttle and widowmaker calls (Both are GREAT calls) I also use the Primos hoochie mamma and hot lips.

I like primose and woods wise if you practice you can make great cows sounds with any diaphram. the bugel that I carry is a power bugel it is very easy to use and you can make all bull sounds and coyot sounds. sometimes the bulls wont respond to a bugel but will respond to a howl. any calls that you like and practice with so that you can make the right sounds will work.

I too am a multiple call guy. I don't know a good caller that uses only "one" call. I'm with browtine on the Mossback Widowmaker call. I used it a lot last fall for the first time and it brought in the bulls like crazy. I use the primos reads as well as their hyper lip series calls.

It's always an adventure!!!

hoochie mama ,,,, greatest call ever only thing i ever use,,, i have called in tons of other hunters and it works like a charm.......cbryant;)

I like to use a few different calls to keep things different. I really like Rockie Jacobsens calls from Bugling Bull Calls. The who's yrr daddy is an awesome cow call and user friendly. nwhunter

Can't have to many calls. I mostly use reed type calls w/ a grunt tube. IMO ABE & SONS is the best tube I have ever owned.
Primos Hyper Hot is a good cow call.

Primos, Sceery and Wood Wise are my 3 that I have with me....for cow calls...

I might have to check out the Mossback Widowmaker....

Without a doubt, the Bugle!! Get a good sounding grunt tube & mouth calls that fit you well & that you have mastered. Bugle for location then do not call again until you are within 75yds of the herd bull, his cows, or both, preferably in cover, once there & setup where he must come & see this bull & not from a distance, hammer him good with sounds where you're calling his cows from him. If he hangs up more than 30seconds then use some distress cow sounds with stomping thrashing around & guttural groans & growls as he's painting a picture in the bulls eyes he's trying to steal this cow & she is resisting his attempts! You'd better have an arrow nocked & nerves of steel, yet a calm demeanor or nature about yourself because it's going to get close & personal real quick! (grin)
