338boy sent me these to post for him. this is what the email said.

This buck was killed on the highway (SR-248 just east of the narrows)outside of Park City, Ut this past week (about 12-1-2004). At least this buck made it through the rut and passed his genes on one last time.

It's too bad that he got whacked that way. I hear the DWR is going to do a full body mount.

There was another pretty good buck hit in the area not long ago as well. Those ski resorts, and fancy shmancy houses can grow some pretty good bone. Thanks for posting the pics.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-27-04 AT 09:01PM (MST)[p]The rumor I've heard is that the person that hit the deer didn't even slow down-had to buy a bagel and hit the slopes I'm sure.

Some "guys" quickly drug the buck off the road and stashed it in the bushes-planning on coming back and taking the sawza to him in the dark. But, with all of the traffic it didn't take long for someone to get on the cell and call up the cops.

I drive hwy 40 a lot and it only takes an hour or two for roadkill to lose their head gear. Even the Utah 2 points get scalped pretty quick.

It's too bad this nice buck had to fall to the bumper of a vehicle. It would have been far better to have been taken by a hunter and then been the admiring object of a lifetime of campfire stories then to get smeared on a highway and then have state LEOs' pose smiling (why?) for "trophy grip 'n grin" shots over your roadkill carcass.

I think its great that the animal is getting some admiration!!! I think the cops work hard and I don't mind if they happened to enjoy this call they got. This animal will receive more ( full body mount) by the DWR than if a hunter shot him. What makes all you guys so friggin bitter? Lighten up and enjoy the pictures at least they took some and they found there way here. Bobcatless I guess the guy in the picture your insulting stole your girl in High School or something care to share? You guys want to know something shocking? Bucks like this die of natural causes too and we never even get to know about them. Hmmm who can we blame for that?

Awesome buck. Yup, that is why I have a brush guard on my rig... not to alleviate any damage to my vehicle, but to have enough "reach" to get a buck like that! LOL

Yes, I would stop and break out the camera for the pose too. I would probably take pics of the buck before I took any of the damage done to my truck!

I know for a fact from troopers in the area that the DWR is forsure going to have a full body mount done on this great buck. Also for in return of the UHP's help with all the help and support they give the DWR by responding to these types of accidents there going to place the full body mount in the Wasatch/Summit UHP office at Jordanelle. These guy's really deserve this. They work hard with responding to these Trophy road kills.

p.s. lighten up on the Troopers.. Just because he dares put a smile on his face doesn't mean he is jubilant that a trophy buck got smeared. I'm sure he just loves doing the two page report each time one gets tagged. I'll tell him to dawn a black arm band next time he is in a picture.

bobcatbess. what do you suggest to be done on the roadways of utah to keep deer like this from being hit by autos. in reality there is little that can be done short of a 10' fence along both sides of the highway, and you know as well as i do that a 10' fence is not practical.

i wish deer and elk didn't get hit on the road as much as anyone else, but there is no way to keep a deer that wants to cross a road from crossing.

wait a minute! i've got it. we could line up dedicated hunters along the roads and give them all noise makers. that would keep the deer from crossing. you know, it just might work. would someone bring that up at the next rac meeting.

the only elkantlers wondering if a bobcat can keep a deer from crossing the road.

Sounds to me like some one is jealous he didn't get his pic taken too. I don't see any reason to dog the police officers, you may be right and it might be the only time they get their pic taken with such a fine animal, but I would bet you would have taken the chance if it would have fallen upon you.
