Monster Muley's Cliques

After reading the Eastman post I was kind of reminded of something that I think has stunk this site up of late, in the last few years or so. I have been on this site almost since the very beginning, a lot of good people, in fact most of the good people have left. In their place have come a bunch of snob's. MM has become a place where people like to pat their ego's by stating they know this guy, hunt with that guy, talked with him over the phone the other night, will be guiding with him this week, blah, blah, blah. You know who you are. Ryan Hatch, Doyle Moss, the Eastman's and all of these other "famous" people are no better than anyone on this site. You just fling these names around to try to impress the rest of us sorry people. Yes this is a whining thread. The only person on this board that consitantly harvests large animals that I respect is DeerKing. Jeff and I have been email buddies for about 4 or 5 years now. We talk just as much about personal stuff as we do hunting. He is not the type that doesn't respond to your post or your email because your not in the loop.......... ( Calm down BuckSpy, I don't mean you :) ). I would say 90% of the people here are good people. Some are great hunters, some have just lucked out and taken a huge trophy, some have deep pockets, some are meat hunters, some ( like me ) are just average joe's who just like to dream about what we could do after we win the Lotto jackpot. Sorry to vent, don't really mean to piss anyone off. Just get sick of the ego's here and the "circle" that seems to be off limits to those of us that just want to talk to new people and hear different stories of adventures that may be out of our reach. For all of you sorry ass's like me, good luck in the upcoming draws this year, maybe a dream or two will come true for us not in the clique. :)

Well said BB I dont post much but I do like reading the posts and the hunters here do reply when I do post GREAT SITE THANKS GUYS HAPPY NEW YEAR ghunter

Monster Ego's Cliques

Good post BB. I too am just one of those guys who thoroughly enjoys the outdoors and just loves to hunt, that has been around for a while too, and I see the same things you do. I guess the fact the site name starts out with "Monster" pretty much from the outset predicates an ongoing weiner measuring contest. :)

If you just read posts from the short list of the ultra-annoying few, alternate site names could be...

MonsterEgosneedthatrequireconstantfeeding.com

Whohastheworstcaseofobsessivecompulsiveantlerdisorder?.org

a@#kissersanonymous.net

whocanbethebiggestloudestmostannoyingdork.com

And my personal favorite...

I'tsonlyallaboutmeallthetime,stupid.net

Can I get an amen? (Or at least a chuckle!?)

All of these could fit quite often, but very few folks on this site make the above descriptions work... for the most part I think it's a short, consistent and extremely annoying list.
Most of the guys on my short list likely are so full of themselves they dont even know who they are... :)

Not to say I don't have some serious fun and good times on here, and I'm sure I do my share of annoying others sometimes(You probably deserve it...) :). There are still more than enough good guys on here that keep me coming around.

Hats off to the good folks that makes this site worth coming back for! Happy New Years. :)

Good post BB. I have noticed that when it comes to posts from the Washington hunters, the only replies are from fellow Washington hunters, and a few of our brothers from the Great White North. Seems if you dont live and hunt in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Arizona or Nevada, your just not worth the time for a reply. I should also include huntsonora in the short list of people that actualy dont care where your from, he gives his opinion freely to anyone that needs it............rf

LAST EDITED ON Jan-04-05 AT 11:14AM (MST)[p]I think that maybe thats a little predjudice to make the statement that it seems that if your from colorado, utah or another state we just don't care. I know your taking time to in essence "take a swing" at some of the B.S. on the site, but by including and generalizing others into a category, your in essence doing the same thing your complaining about. How or why somebody doesn't fit in doesn't matter. There are always going to be different types of people, you just don't associate with the one's you dont like. There are great people from all over the country, you choose who you like and don't like. Nothing says you have to listen to them. We all have things to share that others didn't know and thats what this site is all about. It has nothing to do with where you live or what your like, but the principles and hunting ethics that you share. I know some members like to brag, thats just them. I think everyone has a good idea of who knows their sh## and who is just full of it.

I think your probably right...but who care's about my opinion I'm just a Kalifornian........

"There are great people from all over the country, you choose who you like and don't like."

Agreed, I could have worded it a little better I suppose. However, I tend to think you understand the jist of the post, I wasnt about to go through and list each individual that has replied to posts from Washington hunters. If you have freely given your thoughts and opinions to what others look at as "non-worthy" questions, then I truely apologize for the generalizations, and any hurt feelings my post may have caused you. I still believe that the original post I replied to was not without merit, and also believe there are a lot of others on here that feel the same way.....................rf

i think everybody must of already failed their new years resolutions...no need to take it out on us..j/k

BruinBreath,
That is truly one of the best posts I heave read in a long time. I have very few posts for the time I have been following this site, just because of the very things you touched on. I just don't like getting into the soaps that go on here. I do on the other hand like to see all the pics and read all the stories of people out doing what they (and I) love to do. I don't believe that everyone needs to post on everything, If you have some good honest info or a good honest opinion then by all means speak up, if ya don't then just keep your mouth shut and read on and smile. Just my 2 cents I guess, pick a spot and good hunting to all.

Im glad Im not in the cirlce... That Way I don't have to listen to people bashing me... Id rather they just do it behind my back...LOL

Well said BB. I don't post as often as some but do enjoy reading most of the post. There are those I always skip over.

Phantom Hunter

Agreed there is a percentage who have ego problems. The best thing that we can do to prevent it is not to give the attention they seek. That is why I don't like to get on and talk about so & so and what they did. I don't like the USO but I don't get online to bit## about it. I'm here to talk with real hunters about real topics. IF I wanted drama, I would get on some gossip chat room. This site is not for us to complain about one another, but to learn from one another. I hope my post is not misunderstood, its not to put anyone down.
LONG LIVE HUNTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, yes I do need a hug. I'd rather it be from BuckSpy instead of Cass. Cass has a wierd way of making terrorist threats against me when he is upset.

I didn't mean to slam on anyone in this post. It's just I hear a lot of people saying and obviously thinking that if they know someone who's name is well known to the hunting public then they think they are part of some special group. I'm not going to name any names because even though it kind of rub's me the wrong way I do still like some of these people, ( Note, I said some BuckSpy, not all ) :). And another thing, quite a few people refuse to show off season or harvest pics because they just don't "want people to know". Thats fine, with all the personal bashing on this site I don't really blame you. But don't tease us with "my buddy took a 200 inch buck but I'm not showing you" or "I have pics of a 230 bighorn" and then not show them. What was even the purpose of you typing if thats how your gonna be ? Sorry if I come across as a little beatch. Maybe I am, thats what my girlfriend keeps saying.

P.S.
Thanks for the invite Trent, if I had as big a prarie dog fetish as you I might sit with you. :)

Bravo!!!!!bowhuntinnut hits it right on the head. That'd be a 80 yard heart shot!Cant be said much better than that!

Amazing post Bruinbreath..... the one about your having a girlfriend! LOL. After all, with breath like that......

Seriously though, the post has managed to evoke a good discussion. Some good info for us all to ponder. Why, just the other day, I was talking to Chuck Adams, and he said......

venor, ergo sum (I hunt, therefore I am)

hey im a new guy. and im wondering if just because i havent killed a thirty incher, i dont make enough money to buy one. my biggest is a little 20 incher and i dont know any real popular guides[i guess thats why i have not killed that big thirty] does that make me average or not worthy to be on this site?
p.s i live to hunt and i love to read your stories.

well just yesterday, when I was a yakking with Craig B, and another great writer walked over to talk to us, J Oconnor, and then even Selous hisself added a few words of advice.. Course it wsa only when the Five living US Presidents invited Teddy Roosevelt to chime in with his opinion, that we all decided that you, Mr. BruinBreath, simply told it like it is.

These great men all decided not to mention you or me in any more of their postings.

All Jive

You have to care for it to matter. I hope no one cares that much and this is just idle off-season banter. I would like to think people are passionate about enjoying life in general and making the most out of any opportunity they might get to hunt or enjoy the outdoors.

Most guys here realize that some of the names mentioned here, while might be big to us in our little mule deer world, don't mean squat to most everyone else in the world so the "Big Names" might not be so big after all. Your damn right that they are no better than anyone else here even though they might be better publishers, videographers, writers, and even hunters. Their crap still stinks like yours and mine and last time I checked, none could walk on water(except you Jeff)

I don't think its too much of a stretch to say that the bigger the name in the biggest national publications(Outdoor Life, F&S etc) the more likely they wouldn't be able to hunt their way to a dink 1 1/2 year old four point and killing a raghorn on public land would be like winning the Congressional Medal of Honor for these guys. But, really if you don't like them, don't buy the mags, videos or whatever else they might peddle and cork your piehole.

Its all about attitude, so if some guys feel cool about dropping names, why should anyone give a fat rat's-ass. Make your own success and work hard enough to kill that big buck so your not sitting on the sidelines, grumbling and swallowing bile.

A thread like this is pretty freakin' petty with everything else going on in the world today(and also with one of MM's members), and to tell you the truth its downright embarrassing.

Damn i think everyone just needs to hit the peace pipe and calm down a little hahahahahahaha...its a website for cryin out loud!

What's really hilarious is that one of the ' Circle of Trust' members can't see the forest through the trees. Buckspy ?

You're right Sagecreeper. I can't see the forest through the trees on the public land where I do ALL my hunting.

"I'm watching you Focker"

"Look who's back in the Circle!"

BuckSpy is right. I just read TuffBucker's post about his daughter. Without question this was the wrong time to bring up this post. I apologize.

Well I have just had the fortune to talke with Deerking and I would agree that he seems like a great guy and wished there were many more of those type of people out there.

Very good words BruinBreath. Hunting to SOME degree has become who you know, how much you have, who is better and less of the fun of the hunt with friends and family.

BB,I am new on this particular forum, and I was just reading through the other day,and I had this same view of this forum that you seem to have noticed also.I am going back to my home forum - American hunter/Awesome Antlers, which is THE best on the net,and sets the standard for these others to follow! My hats off to ya' for being one to still recognize that there is a need for more ethics/sportsmanship than ego's/braggarts! I commend ya'

PS: I invite ya'll to come on over to our forum and check us out,I GUARANTEE ya'll won't be disappointed!!!

No Guts...No Story!

Well, since apparently I have no credibilty and my word isn't good enough, maybe my buddy Deerking can come defend my honor.

Come to think of it, I did kill an antelope on private land. Since I consider hunting antelope on about the same level as hunting domestic sheep, I didn't think about it. Sorry.

Deer and elk. ALL.

BS: Everyone needs to whack a prarie rat once in their illustrious careers. Yes, about as challenging as shooting jack rabbits. Watch out for the hair slipping off. What a wierd looking animal with HORNS.

Buckspy, you hit a sensitive spot with me! As you well know I am pretty fond of hunting those prairie rats, speed goats, or whatever you want to call them! I agree that hunting them is relatively easy, but how many guys (including you the almighty B&C muley slayer) have a B&C prongy on their wall?

Dinky Dog Rat Deer Site

Widowmaker,

I checked out your home site and even registered. However it looks to be another Dinky Dog site and has little to interest the Western Hunter. (This is supposed to be a joke, if you'd been around here very long you would get it.)

IF YOUR GOING TO BE A BEAR BE A GRIZZLY BEAR!
Try and take one with a bow and see how easy it is yep just like shooting jack rabbits.Probably one of the hardest animals to get close enough to get a shot with a bow. It's just not that easy unless you are doing 60 miles an hour and shooting your big gun out of your pickup.
