Has anyone ever hunted these units in Idaho?? I am looking for a decent place to hunt muleys in Idaho and thinking about these two units. I have hunted 23 by Riggins before, (south of Salmon River Unit 14 is North) and did not have much success with muleys, just whitetails. Any of you guys hunted these units before? Any stories or experiences would help. thanks.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-11-05 AT 00:13AM (MST)[p]I haven't hunted either unit before but could still give you some general advice. I'm guessing that you have already done some homework but here's some info you might find useful. The 2005 regs should be online around mid April. Even though I doubt there will be any major changes I wouldn't recomend making any hard set plans before then. I would choose 14 over 21A but in 2004 you had to draw a tag to hunt muleys in unit 14 and your odds as a nonresident of drawing a tag for 2005 probably won't be any better than 1/5. Last year in 21A you could hunt muleys with an over the counter tag. Either area should offer you a decent hunt as long as you don't expect to see big bucks behind every tree. You might also want to consider an elk tag because the season's do overlap.
Here's a link to the draw odds and harvest info.

Good luck.

i had a unit 23 late buck tag this year and saw some big ones but never could get in range of them. i got buck feavor and settled on a 24in 4x5. so 23 isnt that bad but if you are going between 14, 21 i go with 14 i have seen monsters in there.
Muley Man!
