I haven't been up there for a few years because it turned into a freaking circus. Is it still bad ? More importantly, how is the winter range holding up? It'd be a fricking shame if poor winter range put the Kibosh on some of the best mule deer in the world. I believe Wyoming will soon be the last outpost of mule deer as we know it. Utah, Idaho, Nevada, all are losing too much winter range to developement. Wish I'd been born there.

Hunted up around that area for the last 7-8 years and in 2003 it was the pits. 2004 wasn't much better from what I have told.
Plan on driving around there next month on my way home from MT to see what or if any Bucks are wintering down around that area.
Did the trip in 2002 and saw some but nothing big,

Thanks Killowatt. That area used to be unreal, and I'm sure there are still some great bucks there. Looks like the drought is finally taking it's toll.

Numbers of bucks are way down this year compared to last year. The number of people are way up this year. Every one up there thinks those deer are personal belongings. A friend of mine got stuck up there last weekend and a woman pulled up and told him she would pull him out if he quit watching HER deer. He told here were to go and he would get himself out. And good old Jack Hone accusses everyone up there of poaching or chasing the deer when I caught him driving down a pipeline right away 3 weeks ago. He actually pushed a 30" and 32" buck right to me. So that man is no better about pushing the deer as anyone else. He would actually lean out his window and glair at people driving by. I love the deer up there but I have grown to hate the people up there. The best deer in the world and the amount of people up there are as bad on the deer as the drought and the oil field.

I've shed hunted around Big Piney for about 3-4yrs. every year i've been pickin up less and less sheds. I used to have some really good spots that would turn out sheds every year but lately there hasnt been any turning up. Plus you cant go anywhere without running into someone else. Maybe this year will turn out to be a good year though you never know....

Hunted up this year, had some success in our group. I have family that live in labarge and we hunted with them. We took a few home, descent, not huge. We did see a couple of dandy's and watched them for a few hours, didn't get into shootn distance, but was awed by the monarchs.

Family says that they have seen some monsters this year. They live on a ranch in Labarge, and have sent us some killer pics via mail and home video over the holidays. We plan on returning to hunt up there this year.

I plan on talking to them this weekend and getting some updates. One of the bucks we took was a 4x4 Frame, awesome mass, and had a few cheaters, he was just under 27', then another nephew took a heavy 3x3, tall buck, bout 26 wide, fair mass. He missed one that he got on film that was a 3x3 about 33' wide... we ended up leaving one tag open, but had a lot of fun with the boys and also seeing the bucks we saw.
