I've hunted New Mexico for the last 15 years, mostly private land with outfitters. This year(2005)the prices for deer hunts have gone out of sight due to the new draw system.I guess they figure the guranteed land owner tag will be in big demand. So let's sick it to the hunter once again and see how many we can get out of hunting all together.I'm from Texas and probably will keep my money right here.

I wasn't aware that NM had landowners tags for deer....was this also a change for 2005??

Let me restate.I mean the outfitters charge for private land hunts.Compared to 2004 prices.

Private landowners can now issue vouchers for individuals to purchase over-the-counter deer licenses and are not subject to the draw process. Each landowner will decide how many licenses to issue for his/her private land. The individuals who purchase these licenses will only be allowed to hunt the private land which the landowner holds. Kind of like the ranch only elk landowner permits.

The rise in cost is probably the added cost that landowners will request for the "guaranteed" license vouchers.

"over-the-counter deer licenses and are not subject to the draw process."

But I thought the entire state was going to a draw system for deer??
