Could someone give me a overview of which units have mostly public land and good deer numbers. I think I want to go muzzleloader. I have one month vacation in october. i know Utah has plenty of mulies and this will be my first muley hunt. Any info or suggestions appreciated.

If you are talking LE then Book cliffs has a huge amount of public land, but the first 3 days of the muzzy is in Sept. Ifm your talking General Muzzy region then the South or Northern region has a lot of public. Central also has a far amount of public.

YELUM,

Didn't you mean privite on the General Deer regions the you suggested? I know that the Southern unit has a fair amount of privit propety on the Fishlake, and the Monroe Mountians. If you are thinking about hunting down arround Zions/Cedar City area you can diffently plan on running in to privite property. I never hunted the Northern unit, but all that I hear about up there is all the privite property that you have to work arround to get any where. The Centeral Unit has some up arround Park City and Alpine other then that I think that your on public property the whole time. I The only place that I am aware of privite property in the Southern unit is arround the Scofield arrea to the top of Fairview Canyon. I hunted the Northeastern unit for the first time last year. Then only places that I ran into privite property was arround Strawberry Res. and then arround Heaber City.

I guess what I am trying to say is that everyunit has it's places where there is alot of privite peoperty that you'll need to watch out for. If you do your homework you'll be able to find a good place to set up camp that is on public property.

Good luck
