Could anyone tell me about hunt the general seasons for muleys in the NE

Thanks

I hunt there at lest yearly weather its deer or elk though. Some great elk hunting up in some high country, the deer herd there is stable, but in order to kill a decent buck your going to have to work for it. We killed a 28" 5X4 2 years ago that scored 187 gross,(Northeastern unit genral season) but we also watched him for 2 months before the hunt, that was on the muzzleloader hunt.

If you need some info on areas, or what hunt let me know, I am more then willing.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-26-05 AT 10:07AM (MST)[p]I'm gonna apply for that general muzzleloader today actually. I think the draw odds are good. How is the hunting pressure. Any info would be appreciated. I have bonus points but no preference points for the limited entry hunts. I would like a mature deer. I have a months vacation in oct. Will apply for many states but want Utah. Thanks in advance

It's a decent area, but if you're after a mature buck I think you'd have better luck in the central region. There's more rugged, hard to get into country in the central-with the exception of the Unitahs.

If you want a neat trip and some beautiful country give the Uintahs a try. There's some great places to pack into, but there aren't a lot of deer-some big ones though.

The NE region is very popular with weekend worriors especially around the Strawberry/Currant Creek areas-lots of roads and road hunters. There are very few places where you can get more than a mile or two away from a road.

If you're set on the NE you may want to take a look at the area out around Flaming Gorge. There are a lot of deer out there, but the really big bucks are few and far between.

Why Utah over the other states? Good luck....
