Area B & C Hunts - Wyoming

My son and I are planning a self guided hunt for antelope and mulies in Wyoming this year. In talking to the DNR, the recommendation was for area's B or C assuming we're not looking for record book mulies or antelope. Does anyone have any advice they are willing to part with as far as what areas to research? I'd be interested knowing what typical trespass fees are on private land in these areas. Additionally if anyone has a contact or information on possible self guided hunts and rates on ranches it would be appreciated.

The best place to start is to call the Game and Fish people and ask for their landowner lists for Regions B and C. These are lists of landowners who have allowed hunters onto their property in the past. Then you have to start calling. It is best to start right now since the applications have to be in by March 15. There are usually leftover deer licenses for both regions and most of the antelope areas so the chances of getting your license are good, depending on where you decide to go. The public lands get pounded pretty hard so you are better off getting access on private property. My experience has been that landowners will let you hunt antelope for $50 to $300 while deer may run you over $1000 but if you keep calling and asking you may find some in the $300 - $400 range. I am a non-resident who has been hunting in WY since 1997. I probably called over 100 phone numbers before I got permission to hunt but the persistance paid off and I finally got access. I usually hunt in J or D. I have never hunted in B but I have heard it is fairly easy to get access if you are polite and ask.

Hope this helps.
