SFW and my Picture? Why????

LAST EDITED ON Jan-27-05 AT 10:06PM (MST)[p] I just received some emails and a few phone calls with some ribbing about my 2004 Utah buck being shown in the latest SFW magazine and something about me being a college student? What the heck is all this??

I do not belong to SFW or ever sent them a picture to post in their magazine. Who posted it?

For a picture of this buck, go to the archery forum under the post " Alan's Late 2004 Utah Deer".

Do you think I could not sue them for posting my picture with out my consent in exchange for one of the many Limited Entry Tags they have this year?

Did not mind the "College Student" remarks to much for this 42 year old ( Smile ).

Could someone scan a picture of what they posted in the SFW Magazine for me? Would kind of like to see it.

P.S....after the 60 day drying period, this buck officially scores 181 7/8" gross and 173 1/8" net.

It is just SFW taking credit for your hard work and success. After all, the high success on mature bucks this year had nothing to do with the weather and everything to do with SFW and all the good they do! Congrats to you on a tremendous buck and good luck sueing SFW. I don't know the legality of what they did so I don't know if you could win that or not. Have a great day!

Yes you can sue and win easily if you didn't give consent. Even if someone else took the photo and owns the photo, without written consent they cannot use it for commercial purposes.

BOBCATSTRESS, BOBCATBESS OR WHATEVER YOU ALL GO BY: GET A LIFE!

I put this post out just because I thought it was funny! I am not going to sue anyone and I don't need to have the SWF get me a tag even though they have way more than they deserve! I can get my tag by myself and probably will this year!

Yea, I am proud of my buck! Just think it sucks that someone would post a deer they know nothing about or without at least asking someone.

I am glad that you are a SFW fan.......I am not. What SFW says rules at the UTAH DWR and to heck with the public and what they want at the RAC meetings.

How about doing us all a favor and unlock your CAPS LOCK key and we all would read a few more of your posts.

You can sure tell it is a long way from hunting season, people can not even take a joke around here!

Why is it that the only organization that is talked about in Utah as doing anything for Big Game habitat is SFW. I know that the Mule Deer foundation and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation do just as much work for us and the habitat. SFW is famous for one thing. Taking the credit for everything they and everyone else does. I think it is great that so many organizations are out there and working toward improving a sport and industry that is important to so many of us, but I also believe you take credit for what you have down and congratulate the things that others have done.
I congratulate the work that the SFW has done on my and others i the state of Utah's behalf and hope to see it continue in the future. In addition I congratulate all groups and organizations that make Big Game and their survival a high priority.
In the future though, we all need to remember that fighting amongst ourselves is the biggest tool the anti's have to change laws and the general public's opinion.
Take credit for what you do and let others take credit for their successes.

To hell with the sfw what have they done? raised all of are tags used monies to fence the heaton, I agree that utah's dwr needs a head check but I do not agree with what the sfw has done. everyone has a right to there own opinion and there is mine. if they did something productive say like kill the loto system and make it highest points draw then maybe they would get some support from the average sportsman, they do have a say and what they did with that was make hunting in utah a rich mans sport.look at all the other western states no one has to pay the tag prices that we all have to pay. and with the sfw saying they are the sportsmans voice they just screwed us all. I say sue the crap out of them for all of us, that don't agree with what they have done.

Let's go ahead and end this thread that I started. A few day's ago I received a well written email from the founder of SFW in Utah and apologizing for using my picture without my consent. He said that it is really hard to keep track of pictures that freinds may turn in of freinds, etc, etc.
In this age of technology, it is really easy for pictures to be sent around.
I accepted the apology and nothing else was exchanged or talked about.
Don also left all his phone numbers so I could contact him if I wanted to talk.
I am still not a member of SFW since I have not taken the time to really look into both sides of the many different stories to see what is or is not actually happening.

Life is way to short to tell everyone to stick it! Yea, I was pretty upset when I first heard about it.....but I am over it now. What do you want me to do, tell them to stick it and sue them? I do not think so!

It is better to accept an apology and forget about it, than let it burn inside you.

Like I said before, I do not agree with some of the things that SFW may be doing that I "read about" on this web-site. But before I decide 100% not to support the SFW, I owe it to myself to find out more about them and how they are run. Does the average SFW member have a say, or are they like the rest of us public folks at the RAC meetings who get up and voice their opinions........and nothing happens?

What organization in Utah do you belong to? I think us average sportsman need to bond together so no one else gets run over "Like Me".

You see, I have been able to keep my cool for a lot of reasons.

Yes I am a member of SFW!!! (I don't agree with a lot of what they do but hey, they do some good things!)

Projects???? I took a few of my kittens hunting and a neighbor kid grouse hunting. I bought a license, went to a few banquets........ But I will never live up to your expectations!!!!!!!

If I started up my own foundation there would be all kinds of wanna be's!!!! Heck, I bet there would be 3 Robert Bess' from Altamont that would sign up!!!!!!!!

The only bobcat wondering if ol Bessy ever sleeps. He makes posts at 10:30 PM and then again at 5:30 AM!!!!!!
