Colorado Unit 41 or 43 best???

OK, I finally got some time to get on the CDOW site and do some homework. It looks like in 2004 the odds for drawing a muzzleloading tag in unit 41,42,421 were about 65%. The draw odds for units 43,47,471 were 100% Does that mean that 41,42,421 are a better area than 43,47,471 or what?

Any suggestions? Should I apply for 41 or 43? Or are there some other good area's with good public lands access that I would have good odds at drawing an out of state muzzle tag.

Next question! What units are the best in Colorado? It seems that units 1,2,3,4,5,301 are pretty popular. I need to start stacking up some preference points. In the future, what is about the most sought after unit in Colorado? If anyone could throw me a bone on this it would be great info to know. Thanks!

43,47,471 are more high country unit which means steep mountains, timberline etc. unit 41,42,421 are lower elevation units for the most part. Have seen good deer in all units, just gotta work a little more for them.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like I need to get a hold of some topo maps and make a decision.

Units 1,2,10,and 201 are the top trophy units in co. So start putting in and in about 75 years you will be able to hunt one of them!!!

That's what I was afraid of!! I'm 35 so I might still have time before I take the eternal dirt nap!!!

If I had to make the choice on a muzzleloader hunt, I would opt for the 43 etc units and do a timberline hunt. Be in shape and be ready to see some georgeous country!
