AZ 4a construction project?

On my archery bull hunt this past Sept I noticed a huge construction project going on right along the 34 road and the 120 junction. It looks to be a lot of cabins and other housing structures going up in the middle of the forest right in prime game habitat. Does anyone have any idea what it's all about. I am hoping it is just an updated Chevlon ranger district compound. If not we are going to have a huge dude ranch or summer camp or worse yet, summer homes for the rich folk in the middle of unit 4a. If anyone has a clue please let us know.

It is a private venture. Not sure of what type but more than likely summer homes. That area has always been private land I believe. At least the east side of the road. Sure hate to see it. I've hunted the area for years.

Arrozonian, that is awful news! It is already a zoo up around the 300 road most of the year; now they are going to bring it right into the heart of a great unit. It looks like a huge project that is really going to bring some serious traffic to the area, not good! Not that there are any deer left in 4a anyway but I just hate to see it happen, surprised no one else has brought it up.

From what I have heard ity is a HUGE condominium project. Probably time shares. I grew up hunting around that area and it just makes me sick!

Colo3D, Any idea who is responsible for the building? It just seems like a crazy place for such a huge project, how do you bring water and sewer into the middle of the woods. If this type of crap starts popping up in the middle of the rim country it is going to have serious effects on our hunting, not that it hasn't already happened, there are cabins and buildings all the way from Heber to Showlow now with everybody's "summer cabin" in the middle of game country.

rnhunter, weren't you the guy that arrowed that 370 bull up there this year? I think I saw you driving a white Ford. Anyways, yeah that construction up there looks like nothing but trouble.

Aztrophyhunter, yea that was me and my brother, not quite 370 bulls but we got a few nice ones. Looks like we will be hunting around the summer homes before too long.

I don't think there will be much more room for growth. If my memory serves me correctly that is really the only big block of private land in that part of the forest. Could be wrong but I sure hope not. What is going now it is way too much. 4a is usually my 1st or 2nd choice for archery bull and I don't want lose anymore of it.

Arrozonian, Thanks for the info. I hope you are right and the constr. goes no further than that specific area. I wonder if these homes are already sold or what the deal is. It isn't exactly easy to get in and out of there in a hurry. They will probably have the 34 rd. paved here shortly with guided nature tour walks along Wilkins canyon. Be prepared to see Escalades cruising down the 34 road at 70 mph to make it to the cabin for the weekend.
