So I've finally lived in the desert state for my six month trial period and now can apparently claim residency. I've been looking over the proclamation and somebody help me here, but in order to obtain a bonus point is it required to purchase one license or a license for each species that you desire a bonus point for? I wonder who writes the divisions proclamations, they should take a little course in organizational and comprehensible writing.

If anyone has a tip or two to guide me in the direction of an area that would be reasonably good muley hunting and drawable it would be much appreciated. It seems difficult to find both. If things worked out I could do the same for you in Utah or if you live in the East Valley area would hook you up with some decent bass fishing in a private pond (I caught two 5 lbers and a 9 lber last weekend).

As of last year you buy one liecense an you get one point for species. You also get one permanent point for hunter saftey course.Point system might change soon. Don

Probably need to know what sub-species of muley you want to pursue. You may know that once you cross the Mogollon Rim headed south, the mule deer transition from the Rocky Mtn variety, to the desert sub-species. Different size, color, and antlers!

There are more opportunities in my opinion for "reasonably good" desert deer than the Rocky Mtn (permit...then hunting) Assuming you're the rifle type.

My experience for fairly good desert muleys are the units bordering NM, from Alpine to MX. Lots of country, pockets of good deer if you look.

The big deer AZ is known for however are for the most part the Kaibab and Strip units....and you probably know the odds of drawing those.

There are a few pockets of potential in other areas....if you read Muley Crazy, you'll have seen some big deer from the south side of the Grand Canyon...unit 10, maybe 7,8 or 9. But this will be tough as it gets. Occasionally unit 4,3 or 2 kick out a reasonable deer.

Hope this helps....
