Wyoming deer hunt

I am fishing for ideas on what would be a good region for my wife and i to deer hunt In Wyoming? We are from Tennessee, and Won't be packing in on horses or anything like that. We will walk in and out of the area each day. We are thinking along the lines of North Western Wyoming national forests. But again, we will be hiking in on foot and cant go into wilderness areas. I am not the kind of guy who has to get a 30 inch mule deer. I would rather see a decent amount of deer and be sucessful on a 24 inch deer, than go home with nothing. I hunted with an outfitter on the northeastern plains of wyoming in 2003, but i would like to try it on my own on public land.
