I'm headed up this fall for moose & mule deer with Trophy Hunters Alberta. Haven't hunted with them before or any other outfitter. However all references I checked out were extremely happy and if you log on to their site you will receive a current brochure showing many of the muleys they killed last year. Most of these are also on their site.

They are putting LOTS of very large mule deer on the ground! From all the research I've done Alberta is definetely one of the best places to be hunting mule deer right now.

I've been to Alberta 3 times, 2 for Whitetails and once for a combo Mulie and WT. all of my hunts were great.I have a real good friend who lives up there and knows a lot of good guides. What do you need to know?

What is the web site for Trophy Hunters in Alberta. I did a search for Trophyhuntersalberta and did not find there site.

i would like to do a late season rifle hunt during the rut with maybe a whitetail combo. what i'm mainly looking for are recommendations for outfitters and even ones to stay away from. if you could put me intouch with some names that would be great. since there are 400 or so registered guides in alberta, its tough to know where to start.

Without question it has to be with Blaine Walberger east of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Blaine is one of Mike Ukrainetz's guides and can be accessed through www.mikesoutfitting.com. This is truly a trophy spot and stalk mullie hunt and can be combined with an antelope tag for about $3300 2 on 1 and $4000 1 on 1 for 6 full days. I hunted last fall on the 1st week of bow season and took a small antelope (wasn't there for a big one) and a real nice 4x4 velvet 160" Buck. Blaine is one of the premier mule deer guides around. Check out the December Eastman's Journal for Jerry Dollard's article from the 2003 rifle season. He and Blaine took a 204" during rifle season, and many, many 180's come off Blaine's unit. Unfortunately the rifle tags go for $6000!!!!!! and are booked up until the 2006 season. Get in shape by the way, Blaine covers alot of country during the course of a day and you NEED to be right on his hip with arrow ready. Also get a wisker biscuit if your bowhunting!!!!You never know when it's going to happen. Bedding bucks definetely allow you the chance to get ready if the wind is right, and sometimes you can be setting up on a monster 20 yds away for 3+hours until he gets up......you just never know. Mike Ukrainetz has (1) cancellation hunt available for this Sept....but it may already be taken.....ask for Blaine as your GUIDE!!!!!!!!

I've been doing some research on this, since I'm going to Alberta this fall. Mike's is a good one, and he just bought some more licenses near Peace River. From what I can find out, the very best at present is Scott Taylor with Bear Paw Outfitters near Peace River. His website says that he took 20 mule deer hunters in 2004 and was 100% successful, with the average B &C score being 189. Look at his website - some real monsters taken. The bad news is tha he's now booking for 2007 and the price is $6500.

I found the website by doing a Google search for Bear Paw Outfitters Alberta.

Good luck. There are some real great deer being take in Alberta right now, and they had a mild winter, so this could be another great year.

is there an edicate with asking specific questions regarding outfitters on this forum? i have been doing quite a bit of research and have found a few promising/moderately priced guides for a muley hunt. i have asked for references from them directly and all have been good (even unsuccessful). i just want to make sure. thanks.

Chris, I am curious where you heard this about BearPaw selling there licenses. I have talked with Scott and he mentioned he has been trying to acquire more licenses not sell them. Both outfitters though take some incredible mule deer and seem to be highly thought of from the different people I have spoken with.

Chris, I think Scott is going to respond to the thread and clear everything up.
