Help for the Northern Utah Deer Herd

Here is a suggestion about how to help the Northern deer herd. Several Conservation groups want to know what they can do. They should take the money they have for projects and buy the rest of the 14000+ Northern region deers tags. If success rate according to the state is 30% that should save about 4200+ bucks. What do you think. Now I am aware how the state counts but hypothetically use their numbers.

I have a variation of your idea, lets get PETA or some other bunny hugger type group to buy the tags so conservation orgs can still use their money for habitat projects :) Anyways, I like the basis of the idea, stop complainning and put your money where your mouth is. Maybe I will buy a tag for my wife to sit on this year.

Northern Utah is mostly private. The 14000+ issued deer tags really don't affect this unit

Skunk,

Uhhhh.........., for once I am speechless.....

The only bobcat hoping skunk man doesn't work for the Utah DWR!!

Hey Trapper John...Great suggestion! but I'm afraid it will fall on deaf ears....The SFW rat-pack has plans for that money..I believe there are a few of DP's toaties that still need a sheep or two to complete their "Grand slam!"...

If you have a friend named Rusty, then I am the guy you hunted with last year on the muzzleloader. I am Mikes cousin Greg.

Hey Greg how are you? Are you coming up again this fall? Rusty is going to be at some grouse meeting in France during the muzz hunt, but I think I will still head back up there. I know we didn't see of ton of bucks, but we had bad weather, and at least there weren't many other hunters. One good thing about that area is that there was so much snow that I don't think it got hit too hard on the rifle hunt. Take care.

I thought I recognized that country on your high country post. Things are going well with me, but I don't think I will be headed back to the same area this year. I drew a thousand lake limited entry muzzleloader tag. I am excited but I am sure going to miss that area up north. I plan on heading back up there the following year though, if your still around we will have to get together again. Do you keep in contact with Rusty, is he done counting grouse? I have gotten a couple emails from Mike, I assume you heard he is on his way to Iraq.
I have heard lots of different rumors about the herd up there. Some say they got slaughtered during the rifle and some say the winter was hard on them and the fawn survival will be low. I hope ou are right about the snow keeping some of the big ones alive. You should send me your email on a PM so I can show the pics of my sheds from this spring. Good to hear from you and keep in touch.

Northen unit is mainly private. Don't worry about it.
