So i went to apply for an arizona deer tag, i wont tell you which one though =), but anyways come to find out you have to buy a hunting license which is NON REFUNDABLE!, so for a chance to draw out in arizona i have to buy a friggin 130.00 dollar, non refundable if i dont draw out for the unit i want tag.

how many people are gonna still do that?

please tell me i have it wrong please i beg you

What you read is correct. To apply you must buy. It has been that way forever if you wanted to buy the bonus point. I know I am 7 points deep for elk & deer. Luckily I visit friends in Chino Valley that I can enjoy the outdoors with.

you have always had to buy a license? then how come it said that this is new this year?

LAST EDITED ON May-10-05 AT 07:23PM (MST)[p] I honor the dedication you have. So Im guessing you put in for 12aw that holds 1000 tags. Unless, by some chance you have a lot of bonus points and are chancing for the late hunt.

In years past, you were required to buy a license if you wanted to accumulate bonus points. If you did NOT want to accumulate points but still wanted to put in for hunts with hope of drawing a coveted tag (which happens yearly), you could do so.

What changed this year is ANY person participating in the big game draw must purchase a license prior to or during the drawing process. Hope it helps.

AS A LIFETIME RESIDENT OF AZ. I HAVE BEEN APPLYING FOR BIG GAME HUNTS FOR 21 YRS. SO EVERY JAN. I SET SOME MONEY ASIDE EVERY WEEK AND COME JUNE THE MONEY IS NOT AN ISSUE. IN 21YRS I HAVE NEVER HAD A DEER TAG NORTH OF THE DITCH NOR A PRIMO ELK TAG AND STILL NO ANTELOPE TAG BUT STILL EVERY YEAR WHEN I SEND IN THOSE APPS. I AM STOKED JUST KNOWING THAT MAYBE THIS YEAR WILL BE THE YEAR I GET TO HAVE THE HUNT OF A LIFETIME. FOR YOU NON RESIDENTS IT ONLY COSTS YOU $979 TO HUNT DEER, ELK AND ANTELOPE IF YOU START SAVING $ EVERY WEEK AT THE FIST OF JAN. THATS ONLY ABOUT $43 A WEEK. THAT SEEMS PRETTY DAMN CHEAP TO HUNT SOME OF THE BEST DEER, ELK AND ANTELOPE THE WEST HAS TO OFFER. SO PAY UP OR GET OUT OF THE GAME, AS NEXT YEAR AND YEARS TO COME US RESIDENTS AND YOU NONRESIDENTS WILL HAVE TO COME UP WITH A HELL OF ALOT MORE $$$ TO HUNT THE BEST OF THE WEST.GOOD LUCK TO THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE WILLING TO PUT THE $$ UP FRONT AND TO THOSE OF YOU WHO B@#CH ABOUT THE COST STAY HOME, REMEMBER YOU DONT HAVE TO PLAY.

ONE MORE THING, ALL OF YOU WHO BUY THE LICENSE, YOU ARE ABLE TO HUNT THE KAIBAB WITH OVER THE COUNTER ARCHERY TAGS ALSO BEAR,MT. LION AND ARCHERY TURKEY TAGS ARE THERE FOR YOU WITH NO DRAW, ALL OVER THE COUNTER. SO I WOULD HAVE TO SAY EVERYBODY HAS THE OPERTUNITY TO COME AND HUNT AZ. EVEN THE FAMOUS KAIBAB EVERY YEAR.

so your saying that it is ok to give the Arizona fish and game 120 dollars every year for a 1% chance at drawing a tag? I have no problem with paying for something, but i wont pay 120 a year when i can just hunt somewhere else that is just about as good, the strip aint all that, ya you have some big bucks but it isnt the only place.

LAST EDITED ON May-11-05 AT 05:04PM (MST)[p]Justice, you may be over stating your odds on the high side for that AZ. tag depending on the unit. Its a free country and if you feel you're being overcharged I would do just that. But remember that it takes money to maintain a quality hunting experience in every state not just AZ. I'm sorry you feel that way but should the residents and those nonresidents that opted for bonus points be the only ones to subsidise your hunting here or anywhere? Shouldn't all that want to partake in utilization of the resource pick up part of the tab for it's upkeep and management so it's there for all to enjoy in the future. I'm not disagreeing with your position, you have a right to your opinion, just adding a little something for you to think about.

VERY WELL PUT BOSKEE. JUSTICE I THINK YOUR RIGHT THE STRIP AND ALL OF N. AZ. ARE OVERATED SO SAVE YOUR $113 IF YOU WISH AND PUT IT TOWARDS A QUALITY DEER HUNT ELSEWHERE.

I agree with what coueskiller said about all the over the counter tags that you can also buy. I don't know where you live but this year is going to be a great year for quail also. That would be free. There are ways to make it not seem quit so bad. Depending on where you live.
