Is anyone familiar with the Harps Gravel CWMU unit boundries? Last year I rode the backside of Bountiful Peak heading towards Grand View and stumbled onto a hunting camp. The guide said that we were tresspassing and kicked us off. We left without question. We were not only a hundred yards off of a public trail I later realized. Personally I still don't believe that we were on their property, we were way above the boundry I think. So I am curious about the boundry area and how far that cwmu unit runs towards the backside of City Creek? Any comments would help.

Do you mean Hard Scrabble, I have never heard of Harps Gravel? If you are refering to Hard Srabble which it sounds like you are, I have a map and it sounds like you were on the unit. The south and west side of the unit run right up to the forest service and there is no fence.

Kustin, you are right there is a sectoin off the west-southwest section of Grandview peak that heads up Mull Creek, City Creek, and Mountain Canyon which is owned by the Gilmore's but all of Hardscrabble is not owned by the Gilmores there are a couple of other landowners included in the CWMU.

that is the area, even though i don't know how to spell, sorry. is there a way to get beyond that area on horse back from the bountiful side? and is there not a public trail in that same area that you can access? thank you for the help

I live up there. Looks like you might have had your question answered already but I can probably track down the boundaries fairly easy if you still need them. I'm pretty sure my brother has them so it wouldn't be too hard. Just send me a message if you still need them. There are several landowners that are in that unit with Gilmore but they own the majority of it.

What a great area. As far as the bondries I am not sure except that there is a lot of Private Property. I hunted that area for years. And may I say what some great bucks I have seen in there!! As far as horse acess to grand view. 1. You might try the kenny creek trai via the north side of Muller Park. However it is way north of Grand View. 2. Take the Muller park trail from Muller Park to North Canyon. It will take you to the base of Grand View. But I think the best acess is VIA the same trail via. North Canyon. Go to north canyon road in boutiful take this road all the way to the top the trail starts there. I haven't hunted it for years but back in the 70's I seen more big bucks there then u could count. It can be tough country for horses. The biggest bucks are in the rocks. I know of 2 horses that had to be put down due to misfortune in that area!! One area you might try The ridge between Muller Park and Holbrook Canyon near the top 1.77 miles north and west of Grandview. 2 basins one we nicknamed Big Buck Basin and Rocky Basin. Both had great bucks. One on each side of the ridge. Kenny Creek trail will take you there abouts. Put your hikeing shoes on buddy. It is one steep sucker. Good luck buddy
