It is in fact a wild Nebraska bull. Nebraska has a growing herd of elk. Drawing for a bull tag is once in a lifetime(kind of like Utah). The bull in the pic green scores just over 410 and nets just over 400. Many of these elk experience mild winters and live in corn fields during the summer months. It is a rifle kill.

How nice is that you go out to site your rifle in for your upcoming season and what walks out on your range, so with tag in hand you drop your bull of a lifetime without even going hunting and without siting your rifle in. Looks like you were sited in enough to get the job done. Very nice Bull!!!

the link on the first post is to the thread on the forum I took the picture from. there are some more pics of the bull in that thread.

Thats a nice one for sure.

Kentucky and Pennsylvania are getting a huntable herd now as well but getting a tag is also once in a lifetime.

I have heard that a lot of the KY elk have been crossing over into VA. And I heard that VA says if deer season is open and you see an elk in VA its fair game. The rumors I heard is that VA does not want the elk, too much damage to farm/crop land.

I think KY is pissed because they have spent a lot of time and money reintroducing elk and if they step over into VA they get shot!

You are right about KY elk getting shot in VA

Also PA has some huge elk, although not a tough hunt. Elk are somewhat used to people. Last I heard PA has more B&C enteries then Idaho since 2000, considering ID has 30,000 bull tags and PA has 10 that is saying a lot.

I live in extreme North West NC and I can just about throw a rock into VA from my house! I'm really thinking of going up there and buying non-res deer license and hoping I see an elk!

They are fair chase bulls here in NE and it is pretty hard to draw one. There are not points added, so it's pretty much "luck of the draw" every year. A family friends son drew this year and took a nice 6x6. I will post the pics if I can get them in an e-mail and also permission. There are some Hogs there in NE no doubt, just really hard to draw and most are on private land and a trespass fee is the norm.

ya this is a nice bull but if you go to the other forum and look at the pictures there are point reductions on it so i would almost think it would make this bull an non-typical
