Mini Bulls

Love to see a few bull photos taken this year that don't stand up to the "mega" bull mark, however the hunter is just as proud. My son shot this spike, the wife killed this 5 point or I hunted my ass off and took this little #^%$$# freak. Please someone outside of Utah also - love to see a ROSE from Oregon or a few BC bulls or even a CO gen hunt (4 point). I've seen some pretty cool smiles with a trophy cow.

Dad and I leave in 2 weeks for teh 3rd season OTC CO hunt. Dad will get a bull tag and I have a deer tag. Hopefuly some proud pics to share of a raghorn when we get home.

I posted this on the NM forum. My son's bull from last weekend. Great hunt and couldn't be more proud.

Here is a small little 6x6 I took Sept. 27 while hunting with my dad. First elk hunt together in quite a few years. Had a blast!

I was near Ruby's Inn helping my son with his antelope hunt when you shot that bull, and I swear I heard you guys whoopin it up from half way across the unit. Congrats on a very nice and unique trophy.

This has been posted before, but here ya go! My wifes 1st elk and shot with a muzzy at 23 yards! It was awesome!

Great post elknut! I will try to get a picture of my nephews 4x5 that I helped him with yesterday. It was his first big game kill and he called it in himself. It is a trophy for him. What a blast to be a part of it with him.

here is a little 5x5 i killed in bow season here in oregon. nothing special but i had a

Man, that last pic had an elk with a really long tail, and tan legs. Cool.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-11-08 AT 09:56PM (MST)[p]Most of the bulls taken each year are rag horns ? good eats and wonderful times with family and friends, let's not forget that!

Only thing better than your bulls are the smiles that go with them - congrats to all of you and keep them coming.

Here is my night before the last day LE Wasatch Rifle Bull a Raghorn 5x4, I am pleased as punch with this bull, its my biggest one to date. And I hike my arse off before I decided my hunt was over. Congrats to every one else on their "mini bulls" I too do not care about the score the trophy is in the eye of the beholder.

I hunted hard for this bull than any other animal I have ever hunted for. The hard work paid off and I was extremely happy with this over the counter archery bull taken in colorado. The other one is a bull I took last year in the same unit.

Great photos everyone. Is it just me or do most of the hunters in these pics seem very happy when compared to most hunters in other big bull pics. Seems like majority of the big bull pics I see the hunter look too serious or even mad sometimes. Its great to see a smile on the hunters face no mater what the size. Thanks for share the photos everyone.

Here is my oldest son with my mini general bull this year. You get a picture of my son because he is much more photogenic than I am! ;-)

Great post guys and great pics as well. Tough to remember that most of our elk are harvested out of general hunt units where it is tough to find elk, much less harvest one. Trophy units and monster bulls tend to skew our perspective on the many hard hunts where the "trophy" is the meat in the freezer. Don't get me wrong, I like big bulls as much as any of you, but every elk is a trophy elk as far as I'm concerned.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-16-08 AT 08:15PM (MST)[p]I had a blast this year on my NM elk hunt. The unit I got this one has a very low success ratio. I definately wasn't holding out for a big bull..... heck I was going to shoot a spike, and then a cow, just seconds before I shot this guy. Well this one's not exactly a mini but he's not a monster either. BTW this bull has really been some good table fare too. I'm happy to join the ranks of the mini bull brigade.

I've never had the good fortune to hunt elk, so I really am enjoying this thread. Congratulations to all the lucky hunters!

Vichris, I think that 325 is alot bigger than mini. Congrats on one heck of a bull.Doesn't matter what you were going to shoot you shot a beautiful big bull.

Not even a bull, but I'm still proud...

Colorado, public land, OTC tags, all DIY... 5th day of the season at 11,600 ft elevation. 52 yards quartering away. Entry a couple of inches behind the last rib, exit just behind the offside shoulder. Went around 150 yards after the shot.

Thanks logslinger. I got lucky and took advantage of it.

Heres my 3x4 from this year...the old 375 H&H fired 2 shots and killed a 25" muley and this bull. This is actually the smallest elk I have killed yet, but it was a tough year and after 10 days, was well worth it!

After spending every weekend with both bow and rifle going up and down the mountains, prowling the ranch lands, and not seeing anything. My son and I where on our way home and this guy just jumped out in front of us.A short run to a cut line and out he stepped. We where able to get the truck to within 15 yards. He aint huge but he will be some fine eating!
