I saw some awesome left fielder make a monster diving catch on a UCLA softball highlight on an ESPN tweet the other night.

PRETTY COOL!!! Go Bruins!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-02-19 AT 05:41PM (MST)[p]Yes...that is my daughter in left. We, unfortunately, missed the first 2 games in that series. We'd been traveling for the past 2 1/2 months watching both girls and trying to make as many games as we can. One of my daughters had the weekend off at LMU so my wife and I decided that it would be good to take a weekend off before we start the last 10 weeks of softball. We wish we would have been there to see it. Stevie is an incredible kid. That is the one that will be having her 3rd open heart surgery this June 21st. I will try to post the video. Thanks for acknowledging her! It means a lot.

Its not money that got Stevie in to UCLA...it was hard work getting good grades...and she walked on the softball team. They graced her with a book scholarship this year, her senior year. She was stoked just to get that. They showed her that she is valued. It was a nice gesture by Coach I.

Not sure if this link will work. Where did you guys see that highlight? I got texts from people saying that her catch was on ESPN top 10 but I looked and can't find it. I only have found it on the UCLA recap.

That was a great snag by your kid, you must be proud.

And she is having open heart surgery? Wow she looks so healthy and doesn't seem to have any issues.

I loved seeing my kids play but they are older now. I get to watch the Grandkids now.

Stevie has aortic stenosis....basically she was born with a bad aortic valve. She's had an open heart to "clean up" her original valve (8 years old), a second to replace the aortic valve with a pig valve (14 years old) and now a third to relocate her pulmonary valve to where her aortic valve is and have a replacement pulmonary valve put in place of the relocated one. It is called the ROSS procedure and it is done at USC Medical. She also had a pacemaker put in when she was 12. She is 97% dependent on the pacemaker which is the scary part about her entire medical issue. She has routine checkups with her cardiologists and pacemaker doctor every 2-3 months and they clear her to play. She's a gym freak...eats right and works out religiously...over and beyond what the softball program puts them through on a daily basis. She's a biology major and intends to become a Physicians Assistant. Her original thought was to become a cardiologist but decided that wouldn't be conducive to having a family. Thanks for all the comments.

Hey Wiz

I had a pacemaker put in about 8 years ago to solve a rhythm issue called AV block with pausing. I asked the doc whether or not this would hold me back he said no.
I used to dive for Abalone but he limited me to 10 feet deep. That is the only thing so far that has been limited to me.

My son and I hunted at 10,000 feet a couple of years ago and I had no issues.
Your daughter issue is more sensitive than mine but she seems healthy and in Gods hands.

Good luck and my thoughts and prayers are with you guys

Hey Wisz, beautiful daughters. Watched the play that was posted. Great catch. You must be proud. I've read your posts about her and can tell you are. All we want is our kids to excel and be healthy. Good for her to have a great work ethic and strong will. You?ve taught her well. Congrats to you both.

I looked to see if they played CSU in Ft.Collins or UNR in Reno. I figured I'd go cheer them on. No luck there.

My parents saved a bunch of money. They didn't send me to college because I already knew how to drink beer. :D
