In my cabin I have a basement.

Nice wide cement floor, electricity, sorta finished.

So, I slid a couple of half inch plates down the stairs, then used some 1" bolts to attach them to the floor.

I then slid a couple safes down the stairs and welded them to the plates.

Then removed the stairs.

Next I reframed the entrance to make it smaller and more easily hidden.

What do you guys do to safeguard your stuff?

I have a closet. First I walk towards the door. Then I open it. After that I place guns inside.

Finally I close the door and proceed to the insurance office with documentation to have them added to my homeowners...

Nope, I put my collectibles down there.

My shooters are in the bedroom safe.

>Doesn't the lack of stairs and
>small door make it tough
>to get your guns when
>you go shooting?

LAST EDITED ON May-04-19 AT 11:57AM (MST)[p]It's not that I dont shoot them. I want a particular set of guns in a more secure environment. Also, the cabin was built long before our newer home and as my collection grew, it made more sense to just buy another safe...or two.

Having worked in a sawmill for 30+ years that had an on site machine shop, and having unlimited access to the scrap metal bin and unlimited access to fabricators and machinists who built their own custom guns, I have one heck of a gun safe.

You better bring a truck with a winch, a chainsaw, and a cutting torch if you want my guns.

Kings, Barron's, Nobility.. back to Romans and BC... Times, Be we women or men, we desire to Build and protect those things we Built and acquired, collected, desire to keep from anyone not given YOUR Permission to see, hold, enjoy with YOU. Women had a strong influence in this and silently their Males went forth to order building.

Castles, Schloss ( a Schloss is often surrounded by a moat and is then called a Wasserschloss (water castle). Other types include the Stadtschloss (city palace), the Jagdschloss (hunting lodge) and the Lustschloss (pleasure palace or summer residence { Like Hue Hefner's Playboy Mansion }). Get it, got it, good.

All of the above fortresses had Armies a Moat, many items to safeguard a fortified place in the Country. It's Maximum Security but, a Country Home is always best.

Hence :) "OUR" 2019 Kentucky Derby Horse WINNER.

Jagerdad :) Offering true Security to those whom desire to study and also, bring the name of the Kentucky Derby Today. Yes, they needed 1911 and REHL to Judge (Issue Traffic Citation) and the rest is.... as I began... HISTORY Folks.. Like Looney Tunes.

Jager, can I please have 2 of whatever you're on? I quit experimenting years ago but reading your posts makes "ME" reconsider...

Dear Alwayshunting... "Trust Me" your reply is not my 1st along endless topics in my Life. Many very close friends, ( Coworkers & Friends dating back to Elementary School ) referred to me as Dr. Rock, Professor Rock, Professor-Rock-Bottom (Last is from a Cartoon name) and to this day I am unable to give an answer...

I suppose I would need to be Hunting and sipping on Corn-mash to open up. My Life did not start Happy or with a Silver Spoon in my Mouth as had every child around me.

Simply try "Alwayshunting" to Read, Read and ask questions. Study YOUR TRADE in Life until you have near few things to read. Then study Case Laws against your Trade. Soon someone will be referring to you as: Dr. Alwayshunting

In such a Reading quest, you may also learn about the challenges a farmer has these days.

Hugs
Jagerdad :)

Dear dr jager, I read more than I should and experience more than I'd like to. There's no shortage of intelligence or ability to learn.

With that said... I'll still take two "2"...
