I'd been drooling over Bob's knives for a while. I decided to spring for my 1st one last year. I broke it in, on a couple of bucks and a couple of bulls. It performed great! I had to touch up the edge after the 3rd animal. My normal knife is usually dull after just one.

I decided that my hunting buddies needed a good knife too. So I got Bob to make a couple of knives for my friends. I just received their knives today. I think that they'll like their gifts!

I'm thinking about finding me a special piece of wood, and having another made for me. Should always have a back-up!

Don, thanks for the nice comments. DeerMadness you can search Hatfield Knives on Facebook and see some that I have available in the S30V steel that Don has.

I need to pull the trigger and order up (3) one for each of my boy's and one for myself...

What if you don't do Facebook? Is there another way to order? I would like to try one on this years moose hunt. Especially if they'll go three animals without a stone...

Tikka if it is on my facebook page and does not say "SOLD" at start of description. It is available for sale.

Alwayshunting, you do not have to be a member of facebook to see my page. Just go to the facebook web site and search for Hatfield knives.

RELH, I'll take it where do I sign up?

Tikka, if your boys are teenagers, I would recommend you start them out with the less expensive 0-1 high carbon steel knives. They can learn how to care for a custom knife and if they do lose it, you are not out 200 bucks + for the more expensive S30V custom.

The 0-1 knives are a bargain as I only make about 12 bucks per hour on them after I deduct my expense for material. On the S30V knives I make 15-17 bucks per hour for labor after material cost.

Thanks RELH, as for my boys they are 19 and 22 . I'm going to get with you towards Christmas time and order them each one. Could I have you stamp something extra in the blade for me when I do order them?

As for the knife I inquired about earlier I'd like to get it. Do I respond on your Facebook page?

I tried to respond on your Facebook page but I'm not signed up to FB so it wouldn't let me...
Send me a pm and we can work out the details...

I have bought a few from Bob.

My pictures don't do justice to this beautiful knife. I carry this one in my pack full time. He is a pretty green one. With Bobs picture and one of the handle up so you can see the green next to the wood.

That's a beauty Tikka.

RELH, let me know when you get more Black Rhino horn or elephant ivory. I'd like one more knife.

Eel you are trying to get me thrown into jail as both items are a big no-no with federal and state wildlife service.

First you burn my Cuz's place at Shelter cove and now you try setting me up. Be careful as Cuz and I may pick up "old Betsy" and pay you a visit in the dark of the night. Oh! we will bring the kerosene with us.

Not yet. We've been taking about going, but haven't. We went up to Isabella, and slayed the crappie once. We're heading to Mexico in July for 6 days, with Tony Reyes. That will be fun!
How about you?
BTW, my buddies loved their knives. We plan on getting them dirty this year!

I had my eye on one of those. That would be a great gift for a sheep hunter. Damascus blade vs your S30V whats the difference?

Have You Checked the Back Side of your Ram Mounts lately NVB?:D

LAST EDITED ON Oct-03-19 AT 10:36PM (MST)[p]LAST EDITED ON Oct-03-19 AT 10:34?PM (MST)

NVBighorn, Merino ram's horn that is legal to import into the U.S. Most of it comes out of China.

BigJonht, Damascus is the combination of high carbon steel, such as 1095 and high nickel content steel, 15N20 and forged and folded into many layers. That particular blade has 416 layers of steel. The carbon steel is the dark steel in the pattern and the nickel steel is the silver colored steel.

Damascus will rust if not taken care of. After use, clean by hand washing and make sure you dry the knife after cleaning. Use a coat of wax or mineral oil to protect the steel between hunts.
It will hold a good sharp edge, but not as long as S30V steel will that is heat treated to 60RC.

Also S30V steel is a stainless steel with 14% chrome in the mix and requires less care in the field. Both are expensive steels over most other knife steels.

Tikka, looks like you are going to enjoy a lot of good eating backstrap this winter. Congrats on a great hunt. I had one customer tell me he field dressed and skinned out his deer and skinned out 4 deer for his in camp hunting buddies and knife was still sharp enough to do more.

RELH

Congrats on a great hunt. Enjoy those backstrap steaks. How do you like the Ram's horn handle scales on that knife? I have been getting a few more customers that request that handle material.

RELH

Be careful feddoc with that old winchester lever action. I happen to like lever actions very much. I bet that rifle has a lot of stories to tell about many hunts in the field.
RELH

WHT_MTNMAN, you really did break that knife in on a great trophy animal. Darn, those horns would make a great set of handle scales.
