Idaho elk unit 40-1 bull tag

I drew a disabled vet elk tag for Idaho unit 40-1. I am so excited for this hunt. There are not many of these tags and have not hunted down there before. Would anyone be willing to give me some advice.
The season starts Sept 25th and runs through Nov 8th I believe. I am headed down mid may once I know I can get in there.

I too am a disabled vet and I drew the controlled tag for this unit but my season starts on the 15th. Never expected to draw the tag but on a whim figured 14 bucks extra so why not. I figured I would get a general tag so I could hunt just across the border from where I live here in extreme northwestern Montana. Go figure.
I have been to and through southwestern Idaho many times but have never explored the backcountry or hunted there. My ex wife is from Jordan Valley Oregon and I bought a new truck once at Happy Day Ford in Caldwell.
If you have any familiarity with this area or advice or if someone gets back to you I would appreciate it you could send em my way too.
I am thinking about bringing and setting up my wall tent if I can figure out where to scout and hunt. You would be welcome to join me if I can figure out a good place to setup.
