Best UT legal ML scope

What are the best options for ML optics that are UT legal? I had a 1x scope with a 1" objective lens and sold it because it had really poor low light performance. I have an older red dot scope on my old ML but it covers so much of the target at distances beyond 100 yds it doesn't seem ideal.

Are there any other good alternatives? I have a newer TC Omega that should be pretty effective out to 200 yds or so but I'll need a better sight for those distances.

Thanks for your replies.

I just bought a Traditions 1X32 and I really like the look of it. It actually seems to make things slightly bigger, rather than smaller which is what everyone complains about the 1x scopes. I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, but I think it will be a huge improvement over open sights for me. Best of all, it only cost $43 bucks on Amazon.com

Last year I switched from the cabelas pine ridge 1x20 to the Nikon 1x20, the Nikon is a much better scope, but it is also one of the more expensive 1 power scopes.

I like the Simmons 1X the crosshairs doesn't cover up as much of the animal.

Has anyone tried the Thompson Center Hawken Hunter 1x32 scope? I had the Nikon 1x20 scope, was a great scope but I didn't like the low light performance.

The Traditions scope looks interesting, anyone used one enough to know if it holds zero well after using for a while?

Thanks for your replies.

I have the TC Hunter Hawkin that I used last year for a UT muzzy hunt. In general I thought it was very clear and had good light gathering capability. You may be going thru the same process I did last year as I normally shoot open sight here in CO. Overall, I was very please with the scope in that I was able to get better than expected accuracy @ 200yds (could hit a paper plate consistantly) as compared to what I'd be able to see with open sights at that range. Open sights out to 100 yds is fine for me but out to 200, I'd definately recommend a scope. It seemed like the options are a standard 1x scope with cross hairs or a red dot. I never tried any red dots after reviewing quite a few posts as to get a good one seemed like it was going to run around $900 and I didn't think I'd get any better accuracy. I was actually planning to sell my TC scope since my UT hunting days are over since I can't apply now for 5 years and I'd be too old to draw in 20 years so if you're interested let me know! I bought it used 1x previously, via ebay and was very happy with it. A buddy I hunted with bought the Traditions 1x as it was cheaper but I didn't want the lowest priced scope although it also looked fine to me but I didn't scrutinize them. Overall, I did learn that a 1x scope will make things look further away especially @ longer distances. Initially at close ranges I didn't see much difference but when looking out past 50-75 yds it is definately noticible. Someone noted that the eye is actually comprable to 1.5x which although it didn't make any common sense to me, I would concur with that analogy.

I also shoot the tc hawken hunter 1x32 scope. Having the crosshairs vs a reddot or open sights allows you to actually see your target out to 250 yards. My setup with this scope is a 50cal TC encore and I am shooting a 250gr. barnes spitfire TMZ with 100grns. of 777. I feel very comfortable shooting out to 250 yards with this setup. One can not go wrong with this scope in my opinion.

Aimpoint red dot models with 2moa dots.

Best red dot on the market, cover less of the target at 200 yards than any 1x crosshair I have seen(burris, nikon,TC,Sightron).

Models

9000 sc
9000L
comp ML3
comp C
pro model

These all are with 2 moa dots and run around $400.

Best duarability, battery life, no paralax, battle proven. Unlimited eye relief.

There are other models with 2 moa dots but they cost more as they have night vision options you don't need.

Models like the ML3, Pro are mounted with a single wide 30mm ring on a single weaver cross slot base. Others like the 9000 sc or 9000L are designed to be mounted with two rings.

I have an accurate .50 with a 3 moa dot old comp m model (out of production) and have no problems shooting to the accuracy level of the rifle (around 1.5 " groups@100yds and 3-4" groups at 200 yds). Its been on the gun for 8 years and has never missed a beat.

I also run these sights on tactical rifles, have 5 or 6 Aimpoints, never had a problem. The battery life is so good its a non issue. As an example the comp ML3 will go 5 years of 50,000 hours on brightness setting 7 out of 10.

Have two buddies running 9000L models on their smokers and have nothing but good to say also.
