Muzzy scope vs rifle scope

LAST EDITED ON Apr-06-19 AT 12:15PM (MST)[p]Anyone know the difference between what is marketed as Muzzleloader scope vs a "normal" rifle scope. If it has turrets then I'd guess the difference would be in the turret adjustment drops but if there's no turrets, what would be the difference? I was thinking I might put a scope on a muzzy and use it during the rifle season for fun.

The ones I have seen either have the adjustable turrets like this:

Or some simply have lines below the crosshairs to adjust for holdover.

Some people like one method over another. I would suspect they both work pretty well

Typical scope sold as a muzzleloader or slug (shotgun) will have thicker crossairs. Hold over or yardage turrets will be different.

Most rifle scopes will work on a muzzleloader. They just need to be able to with stand the recoils of a high power rifle and it should be fine. Don?t put a 223 or 22lr scope on a muzzleloader.

I run a nightforce with MOA turrets and an Moa drop reticle.

Thanks! That's what I was looking for. I assumed the shock from a rifle is worse than a muzzy so I thought a rifle scope on a muzzy would be fine but perhaps not the other way around.

And the quality of the scopes marketed as muzzleloader scopes is generally inferior to mid and higher end ?rifle? scopes.
