A friend of mine and I may be selling a good size stack of elk sheds of all colors shapes and sizes. So who is paying the best price right now for elk sheds. How much per pound on brown sets, singles, white sets and white singles. I'm shopping around for the best price. Thanks!

LAST EDITED ON Mar-27-08 AT 10:49AM (MST)[p]Hello, I hope this helps. there was a post a few weeks ago on this same topic. most of the guys on this site agreed with dollar amount for elk and deer. In selling antlers you should expect to recieve the following prices:

Elk
#1: $6.00-6.50/lb sets $8-10/lb for sets under 350.

#2: $4.00/lb

Deer
#1: $8-12/lb big bone: $14-15/lb

#2: $4-6/lb

Now these prices are pretty standardized for the western states. I have been selling and buying antlers for 4 years and I have seen the price change very little in the last 2 years. you can shop around and around trying to find the best price, and you deserve to do so--I know how hard it is to find the bone--but you also have to think about how much time you will spend for maybe 50 cents per pound. also, when you selling, try to sell it all! lots of people want to pick through your pile and leave you with a bunch a broken up-hard to sell- antlers. try to sell them all at once! I have been paying these prices and if you decide to sell, let me know if your interested. also, have you ever thought about having a floor lamp or chandiler built out of your own antlers? I do a lot of trading that way! hope this helps,

i sell all mine on ebay. i get way more that way than from an antler broker. brokers go by the pound and sometimes sheds are worth more due to the character they have.

you guys that are buying brown elk for only 6 a lb. are losing business. these arent game farm sheds we sell. theres guys out there who are paying 8 a lb. for brown and 6 for white. and big match sets are worth alot more than poundage. maybe you should go try to find some instead of sucking the blood out of the guys that do.

Lets have some names and numbers for those paying them prices!!!! We all would like to get that.

Yes, Please post the names and numbers of the people paying $8/lb for elk. I have almost 400 lbs I will sell tomorrow at that price!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-04-08 AT 05:10AM (MST)[p]theres a guy in riverton wyoming. horath outdoors. his number is 307-856-4545. if you want more numbers and names, the shed auction in Jackson hole is in may. i know that sheds get sold for good prices all the time there. basically anyone who wants to sell sheds for better prices needs to cut out the middle man and talk directly to the craftsman. there are alot of antler furniture and lamp makers out there. just research it on the internet before you sell to the low ballers. i just sold 7 little fork horn sheds that werent even brown on ebay for over 25 dollars. can you guys do that? i am sure the buyer is a craftsman.

and i heard it from the horses mouth that if the SLC buyers would pay 7 bucks a pound that this individual would sell.

I sell $2000 worth of elk sheds I pick up each year for $6 per pound. For fresh brown unbroken it's the going rate here even in Jackson unless you have something special.

Time in the hills is always worth more than money

I'm with you on this one elkantler. The last elk sheds Isold went for 9.00/lb for single brown and 13.00/lb for all matched sets.Took some shopping around to find those prices, but if you're not in a hurry to sell it's worth the effort.
