Dec 6B/8 Coues hunt

Drew this tag this year, and I was hoping some friendly souls might shed a little more light on the 6B side for me. Have hunted Unit 8 for elk a couple times, and my son has been in there two other times and we have always found some nice deer while glassing Government, Tule, or Sycamore Canyons. No experience on the other side tho. The last time in there, we even found a 60" shed and a honey hole of rubs in the heavy timber portion.

Looking at a bunch of maps and Google Earth now, and it looks promising over there. I know glassing elk from the overlook, it can be a jungle over there. Is there any place on that side I absolutely have to consider, or should I just stay in the areas I know.??? Have the whole season to hunt (13-31), if need be.

Thanks. Any input would be great, and PM's are welcome.

The bucks we have seen in there are quality animals, and I have to believe they can live long enough to become outstanding trophies. Here is a couple pics of one of the sheds we found in there. Doesn't completely do it justice, tho, and you would have to hold it to believe the mass!

Only after much prompting and pressure, do I finally succumb and allow a photo. Here's a glimpse, and the rest is in the HAC.

What a great hunt!

I'm so glad I got to hunt Coues deer down there this past year, after seeing all the sign and the deer themselves during our previous elk hunts. With any luck, maybe I can draw again in the remaining years I have left. Got to looking at forms and different poses last week, and made my selection and I got the mount back today. My hunting partner did a great job on the taxidermy, and he is proudly displayed in my office where I can see him all the time.
