Ok, I've looked at the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ10S and Olympus C-750. I know a few of youhave these, which is better? I like the size of the Oly, but the higher zoom of the Lumix.
What's your opinions?

B, i know very little about the Olympus, but i have the Panasonic Luminx and i don't go ANYWHERE with out it. i use it daily..love that 12X zoom. luck to you....

I owned an Olympus and have nothing bad to say about it. Picture quality was every bit as good as they Panasonic with the Leica lens that I now own. I bought the Panasonic because of the 12X lens also. I think the controls and the features on the Panasonic Lumix feel smoother. You can't go wrong with either.

Have you guys tried the 1.5x teleconverter for that camera? If so, how does it work?

I have a doubler for the oly...I wouldnt suggest it. I lost alot of quality on mine. And the edges were out of focus in a circular shape. I bought a kit with my camera...had the doubler, wide angle and all the lense filters..I would suggest the lense filters... but not the double. The wide angle lense has worked ok but I havent used it much.

I have the older Oly 2100 UZ and it's a great camera.A friend of mine just got the panasonic a while back ago and it's a great camera as well. The image stabilizer is a very important feature for taking pictures of wildlife. The panasonic has the I.S. but the Oly 750 doesn't.Just something to think about.

OK, I broke down and bought the Panasonic. The Image Stabilization and the 12x zoom sold me. The problem, it's big. Heck, by the time I pack my video cam. and this camera, along with bino's and a spotting scope, I'll have a heck of time climbing the mountains.
Too much stuff????

If anyone tries that doubler ont he Panasonic, let me know.

Browtine, I know what you're talking about on the Crystal Optics doubler. I got one with my video camera and ended up sending it back. I then bought a larger Precision Optics doubler and it works better. No fuzzyness around the edges, however it still sucks a little light out of the shots.

I'm just thinking that 12x just isn't enough. I hate to try getting too close to the deer this summer, especially if they're bucks I'm hoping to hunt.

brian, i think you made a wise decision. you'll find out that you don't have to get as close to the animals as you think. once you bring the pics home and zoom in on the computer, you won't believe what you are seeing. luck to you on the camera, and we'll be looking for lots of great photos....

LAST EDITED ON Apr-22-04 AT 12:26PM (MST)[p]I'm looking to buy the same Panasonic camera. Question is where? After looking at the reviews on most of the camera suppliers websites there's plenty of negatives out there about slow delivery, high shipping costs, and company's just not offering very good customer service. Any suggestions where the DCM-FZ10K can be purchased at a fair price with reasonable delivery time and costs? Thanks!
