Ranging in 3 Pin slider Sight

Hi, question for everyone. New to archery and I received a Rocky Mtn 3 pin slider from Feradyne when I returned my IQ that had a stripped hex screw.

I want to sight in but don't know how. Specifically curios about whether I range in my 20pin with the sight housing at the top or bottom of the dial? Thanks for the advice.

You should sight in with the sight housing close to as high as it goes and then as you turn the dial for further distances it should drop lower. The housing will be at its highest point but the arrow pointing to the sight tape will be at its lowest point, so don't get those two confused.

Just make sure you are set up so that the pin housing will move down to adjust for longer distances and you should be good to go.

I use a 4 pin slider, the Apex Covert. I really like it. I use the bottom pin (50 yard pin) as my sighted in slider pin rather than the top pin. This way there is less dialing. I started using a slider pin for hunting and 3d back in 1995 and still have it. There is a downside to hunting with a single pin slider, such as not always having an opportunity to adjust the sight. I love having a multi-pin slider. It is the best of both worlds.

And Yes, keep the housing high enough so that when you are sighted in for your longest possible distance, it is still high enough that it won't interfere with your arrow.
