Broadheads for longer distance with the new Raven crossbows

Gentlemen.
I am 73 yrs young and for the last couple of years have been using a crossbow instead of the compound more and more. I have ordered a new Raven bow and will soon set it up and practice for muleys and speed goats in Wyoming. I would like to hear from anyone who has experience using these new bows out to say 80 yards. After I practice with field points I will have an idea as to how far I might shoot at game. I would appreciate comments on broadheads that fly well at longer distances. Any and all info would be appreciated and get me going on the right path.

John, I use the wac em Triton with my Matthew's compound and they fly great. I know they made a crossbow head and it may be worth a look.

This past antelope season, my boy took a shot at a nice buck..with 3 blade head ..a slight breeze .made the arrow shoot left ..another shot was taken at 85 yards with rage BH..dead on shot
.just saying

I shoot a rage on a FMJ with my vertical compound. Flys great and that FMJ is heavy and makes for a quiet shot and deadly penetraion. A little more drop than other setups, but the pass thru and quiet sound is worth it to me.

I don't know cross bows, but would suggest thiner heavier bolts.

I also enjoy a Bear Kodiak with cedar arrows and a 2 blade so the opposite of new technology, but that experience is what turned me on to heavier slower flying arrows. I acknowledge it flys in the face of the speed craze, but its much more forgiving and deadly and with the power out of the new setups I think you can afford to shoot it much slower than advertized. When I did shoot light carbons and faster arrows I was not as lethal as I have been the last handful of years with the heavier/slower arrows.

For muleys and speed goats you can get away with expandables like Rage, but for fixed blade I recommend American Broadhead Company with the Sonic head. I practice with that out to 100 yds with my bow.

I have been using slick trick vipertricks this season and they have been flying unbelievably well.

After trying way too many, I only shoot VPA broad-heads. I prefer the 150 grain non-vented. They shoot very well out of my bow to 100 yards.

Haven't hunted with an X-bow and don't really want to, but I will have to sooner than later. I bought a TenPoint Stealth NXT to play with. They shoot just as well out of it as they do my bow.

If you are not familiar with them, they are milled from a single block of steel and heat-treated. There is no stronger broad-head IMHO.

Last year I went directly through a rib on the way in, and out through the humerus bone. Never did find that arrow and I spent much time looking. The deer took about a dozen steps before dropping dead.
