Pack size

Hey guys just wanted to see what some other guys are using for pack sizes.. I'm looking for a pack that would be a day pack and most importantly carry out a quartered out mule deer.. when I was younger I always hunted with others so if we got a deer we'd drag the deer back to truck or camp well now that I'm
Hunting alone more often than not and going into some canyons that most sane people would not I'm Looking for a pack that I could load up a quartered out deer in. I've been looking at Different brands but I'm Not sure how large of a bag to get I don't want something too bulky but I need something big enough to open up and get most of the deer in in one trip.

>Check out Mystery Ranch, their ?Pop
>up? 18 or 28 would
>be the ticket.

Thanks for the recommendation those look like what I would need. And I hadn't come across those in my search yet.. have you used them with a large load yet? If so how do they feel with a full load?

Seek Outside makes an awesome pack in Grand Junction, Colorado. I use their Peregrine ~3500 It compresses down nicely or I can use it without the pergrine bag and put a blaze talon on it and just use the meat shelf. It has a breakaway bag feature to pack out meat between the frame and the bag like some of the other great packs.

I will chime in here on KUIU very good packs !! I have a ICON Pro 5200 it is the ONLY pack I use year round day trips out scouting or 2 to 3 day hunts . I have hauled elk quarters & deer & 70 to 80 #s of elk horns & have had NO issues at all.. Complete pack is 5.2 # I have never used the top pack so mine is about 5 even .. These packs are around $500 they also have the Ultra system which is lighter Can NOT go wrong

I use a Slumberjack external frame pack and a 60 L REI stuff sack to carry everything in. No bells or whistles, minimal pockets and a rigged up water bottle sling, but it excels carrying meat. Whole quartered and deboned deer with head and cape is a comfortable load. I am 5'9" amd weigh 155# and it seems a little big with all straps cinched tight but the load does not move!

I'm sure there are better packs but until i can afford a few hundred bucks worth of new pack, this one will carry the load!

Thanks guys but what size would be ideal the 3200 or 5200? I'm guessing the 3200 would be good enough for day hunts but the 5200 doesn't have much weight difference so I figure it might be better to have a little More space what do you guys think? This will strictly be a day pack/ meat hauling pack

I agree with BeanMan. I have a Seek Outside frame with the meat shelf and most of the time run a kuiu 1800 bag on it. Last 2 deer went out in one boned out load.
